Maybe you could elaborate on that statement slightly? Why do you like them, what aspects of their act or performance do you enjoy? Why do you think they are they better than others?

At the moment your statement that you like them ranks in the 'Who cares?' category.

I've seen some of their material, and although they are very talented, I don't like their style. Its hard to tell if they are gothic or Christian. And what was point of their show "Magic of the Bible" anyway.

OK, hoping to resurrect this thread for good! :)

I really like Barry & Stuart and their style. I think this is probably a lot to do with my age, and the fact that I like a bit of blood and gore, even in my magic. I know they're not overly popular on here, but I was just wondering if anyone shared my love for them. I'm going to see them live tomorrow night for the second time which really sparked this post, as I am more than a little excited. Nowadays I find myself able to work out how a lot of tricks are done (not that I can do any of them myself) but they still manage to fool me with some of their stuff. Whether I know or not though, it's all very well done in great style, with a fantastic chemistry between the two of them, great patter and the right amount of comedy. They're just very entertaining (if you like that sort of thing)

I like a lot of their stuff, but my favourite has got to be bez coming out of stuarts stomach, that was amazingly well done, and to be honest I'm not sure even bez knows how it was done. I also like suicide in C sharp, I've always liked this effect, and have actually just bought a similar knife for me to freak out people with  Can't beat ending a show all covered in blood

I'm with you Schwen. Barry & Stuart kick ass! :P

I've only been introduced to their material via youtube, but you can list me as a fan of these guys and I would love to take in one of their live shows.

If I can find a venue in February (I'll be in the UK at that time) I'll make a point of going to see them.

Good stuff!

Mike.

I have to agree - their most recent show (the one with 'lets kill foxy' where they 'kill' dr fox in loads of different ways cracks me up. I also love the guest magicians that they have on the show their names escape me but I will find them out) like the escape artist who makes his own houdini style traps to escape out of (one time he cemented his hands into a bucket then suspended himself above a bath full of drawing pins :S) and the guy (longish black hair) who does tricks with animals and celebrities (did one with a mouse in a blender, which ended up in his mouth :-O)

All in all, I love their style, its laid back and adds humour to magic as well as showing how skilled they are - check out their website:

has details of their up and coming stage shows

The escapologist you speak of is Jonathan Goodwin, and the other magician is Pete Firman (currently doing a show in Edinburgh)

and Barry & Stuart are playing at both the Leeds and Reading festivals if you get a chance to check them out

They're playing in the comedy tent, or so I understand, there's a mention of it on their website, if you myspace them they might be able to tell you more.

Kinda wish they would do one of their musical numbers on the main stage though, like to see what some of the metal heads and emo kids would make of that
