1st paid gig

Postby greedoniz » Oct 12th, '06, 14:28

Hello everybody

Last week after a long time of half heartily trying, persuading myself out of and near misses I have secured my first paid gig. Obviously it is something I am quite nervous of and very much looking forward to doing. It is a 10 minute slot on stage in a bar introducing the first band and then doing walk around in the bar the rest of the evening with upto 150 peopl expected.
I suppose the reason why I'm posting this is as a thank you to the talkmagic community as since joining I have learnt so many things from the many people of differing levels within magic all with useful tips, ideas and thoughts in the sphere of magic.
I know for a fact that I wouldn't be in the position I am now without it and wouldn't have the confidence to this gig on 1st Nov.
So to all the regular posters on here a big cheers especially the ones who have directly helped out on questions I've posted.
I just hope that the odd posting I've left has been helpful

Talk Magic, long may it continue

I will now hand out the bucket in which to vomit in...

Take your own soft toilet paper. You'll thank me later

But apart from that, just do it like you know you can. It's great experience for the second one!

lol

It's nice that the support that I get here is concerning my lack of bowel control.
Dont worry I found some adult sized nappies to use...not for the bowel control just cause I like wearing them

On a similar note, I went out last night for a perfectly innocent drink with a magic buddy and came home having apparently agreed to do some walkaround between bands at a gig on sunday, a bit of halloween strolling and a wedding in November.

I've never done it for money to strangers either.

Where do you get those nappies from?

I've got plenty of 2nd hand ones spare. One quick go through the wash with plenty of bleach and they'll be fine.

Good luck to you too Bronz. As I'm trying to do, remember you know how to do it, just apply what you know with confidence.

i found once you get used to doing some bar/pub work, you settle down fine..nothing tames the fear than dealing with drunken show-offs or the odd lout...

actually, you dont need a cork or nappy...i just thought of the best place to store a T-tip

ooooh yeah, i have a halloween dinner party to perform at...and luckily i will make the guest-list tot up to 13...marvellous...

Plus the good thing about using a TT is you dont get smelly fingers removing said plug.
Just use the thumb!

Too much info I fear

or if you used a d-lite, the light would really shine out of the proverbial...

enough with the scatalogical references...

anway, good luck with all your gigs...

I'm busy making an ID with some special cards and re-reading Band of the Hand...
