Hello Newbie Here

Postby myuserid » Oct 29th, '06, 22:29

Hello, I just came back from a trip to Las Vegas, NV (USA) and I really enjoyed going to some of the magic shops there. I am seriously thinking about picking up magic as a hobby. Currently, I am most impressed with coin tricks, sleight of hand, and card tricks.

While in Vegas I bought a couple things:

1. J B Bobo Book: Modern Coin Magic
2. Scotch & Soda Coin Trick
3. Gamblers Card Deck

I am also looking at buying:

1. Lethal Tender
2. Folding Quarter
3. Hopping Half

Possiably the J B Bobo Coin Book on DVD as the book is a little hard to grasp. Im much more the visual type.

Anyway, I hope to learn much from this forum. Thanks for listening.

Hi and welcome to TM

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Hey and welcome! If you're looking for coin magic on DVD, after Bobo's book (which is the bible!) I'd fully recommend Michael Ammars Complete Introduction to Coin Magic DVD, it basically follows the path of BoBo's, in the first few chapters anyway, along with a lot of the tricks, plus Ammars a great teacher on the subject.

Also David Roths Expert Coin Magic vol 1 is great, then Jay Sankeys Revolutionary Coin Magic, although Sankeys one would be a bit more advanced!

Welcome to TM,

Unfortunatly Bobo's book is not going to be made into a DVD, well not as good as "The Royal Road to Card Magic" was by L&L publishing (I once wrote to them and asked the question, they said NO!). Magic Makers have made a DVD based on the book, but I dont know if it is any good.

I made my wife dissapear just by arguing with her!!!

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
