Hello everyone.

Hello everyone, my name is David and I've been learning the art of magic for quite some time now. I have always been interested in magic, ever since I saw a trick done by one of my father's friends when I was probably around 5 years old. Needless to say, at 5 I was no magician, but I slowly started seeing more and more tricks and by about the age of 7 I received my first magic set as a present and have been buying books and tricks for the past 6 years. I might seem young, too young, to a few members here, but let me assure you, I (from reading some posts from the Sinbin) am more mature than some of you previous members . It really did sadden me that some people just come on here for the secrets. I have been skimming through previous topics on this board for quite a few days now and decided that it would greatly better me to join. I've already gotten some great advice just by reading previous posts and hopefully I can contribute at least a little bit to this board. When I first started magic I was doing it in general areas, a bit of coin, a bit of cards, a bit of mentalism, ect.. but I am slowly starting to lean to mentalism, escapes, and of course everything to do with stage magic because that is the way you get noticed at first as I do not think anyone got famous doing street magic. Thanks for having me on the board, and hopefully I will be able to contribute some good advice on here!

~David

Edit: One more thing, does this board have any relation to MagicTalk?

well you already seem more mature than most people and it seems you have quite a bit to say. But you say you have been going for six years, and it sounds like you have been really devoted. Thats some admirable stuff. Keep up the good work david and i hope that you learn from and give to us fellow magicians.

Hey David

Welcome to the forums!
You said that when you were six.. you started magic.. but you weren't much of a magician?

a couple of months ago a 6 year old kid showed me a trick ( parts of an ambitious card routine) and I was like hit with a rock.. my brain couldn't figure it out..
(so the six year old kid REALLY amazed me) which is in my opinion one of the biggest things of being a magician.. or the ultimate goal of a magician :)

Anyway.. thats when I started doing magic.. by a 6 year old, who is in my opinion a real magician 8)

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
