MS FRONT PAGE HELP

Postby dat8962 » Nov 6th, '06, 19:44

Can anyone offer some help to a web newbie?

I'm building a new web using Front Page (Office XP version) and I've used one of the templates which I've been modifying as I go along.

The problem is that each time I add a new page the very same formatting carries over. I now have the same banner on each page and if I delete it from one page then it goes from all of the others. I ant to be able to have different banners on each page.

Any ideas on how I can do this, the template that I'm using is 'Arty' which is one of the built in templates.

All help appreciated.

hmm thats weird..

when you make a new page.. do you open an exsisting page, (the page you made before that) and edit it? or do you get a blank Arty template document?

if not try using a blank page for every new page you make..
even though it shouldn't change if you would use a former made page and go from there..

I hope you can make some sence out of this ;)
Don't you like Dreamweaver MX? thats what I use.. and it easier to use in my opinion and has more options..

Thanks for the response Henk. I don't have dreamweaver and don;t do enough web work to justify buying it.

Anyway, in answer to your question I am opening a new blank page each time I want to add a new page but it opens in the Arty template with the banner etc. already embedded - as they are on the home page (index .htm).

The rest of the page is blank so I can add the text for that individual page but the graphics etc. in the title bar are embedded throughout the whole web.

If I add a new page and then delete the banner to add a new one of my choice, this then removes the banner from all preceeding pages and replaces it with what I select on the new page.

I hope that this explanation makes sense. I'm lookiung for a way of turning the auto-format off so that I can have a different banner at the head of each web page.

I have no idea what the template looks like.. and I can't check since I havent had Frontpage for years..
but I'm guessing its a template with different frames and stuff..

you could take a blank page and add frames to it.. and make your own template.. that way you probably wouldn't have the problem..

Just make the front page how you want it, then create 'new blank Page'. Go back to the first page, CTRL A [selects all] then CTRL C [copies] then go to the enw page and hit CTRL V [pastes]. Then all you gotta do is delete the banner on the second page and insert a new one.
