D'Lite, Flight or Morph?

Postby dark-side » Nov 7th, '06, 18:38

I have another gig on the 18th, there is going to be a laser disco and so have decided some d'lites would be good.

I know a) how they work and b) what the differences are... however I am wondering if anyone has had experiences of each and would like a little advice on which may be the most suitable for this environment.

Obviously a matter of opinion, but has anyone found that the original gets better responses than the morphs, for example.

One final question - just couldn’t find the info in the reviews - with the morphs, is the colour changing on a fixed time cycle, or is it possible to "hold" the red until a change is wanted - if you get me :) It doesnt sound like it from the description, but just wanted to confirm.

Thanks in advance for any tips, I know they will be as great as always :)

Mark

i know a lot about all these things and will say the best thing you could get is a pair of colour changer d'lites. the flight thing is kind of a one trick pony kind of thing, in my opinion, unless you're really combining it with a d'lite routine. and the morphs are just silly in my opinion.
now, i do alot of club work, and am a juggler/dancer type so for a "laser disco" kind of thing then follow my advice, although i do use lites for a dance thing a lot more than for magic. look up what a "photon" is and how people dance with them, then substitute in d'lites and you're on a winner!

but if you want it to be more magical, then someone else;s opinion may be better for you.

I would go with the regular D'lites because you can quickly "dispose" of the *. I have not experience with the color changing ones, but I personally, just from the "comments" (if you would call them that) about them that you read right next to the "buy" button just does not seem to be like you can control what color it would be. When I start a D'Lite routine, I explain that I can just grab a bit of <item>'s color and "turn on" the red D'Lite; how would I explain it changing to green...especially when I don't know when the flip it will happen?

D'Lites are also good because you can do an endless routine with them because people love lights. I did a 5-10 minute routine with them at a party a while back and no one got bored. You can swollow it, then pull it out anywhere on your body, stick it in your ear, in your nose, "throw" one to the audience and play catch with them, throw one into the air and "split" it into 2. I mean the possibilities with these are endless and the great thing is, you can take requests of where you want the "light" to go; someone can ask you to throw it into a pole and pull it out the other side...guess what, you can! Hate to sound like an advertisement here, especially when a lot of you might be suffering from C.U.P.S. as the holidays are approaching, but whenever I go out at night, I always take these with me.

Go with the red D'Lites, they have never failed me yet :D!

no no, the morph things start on one colour and cycle through a bundle. the colour changers you can decide if it's red or green. one or the other. it's basically a red one and a green one combined into one handy TT

ahh - sorry. my usual supplyer only does the three types...didnt realise there were so many varieties - as i have discovered. Thanks for the info. Shame they are red/green - red/blue would be a good combination :)

Does raise another question...

Can you control fully the choice of colour, or do they alternate between the two?

I am going to buy these tomorrow..cant find anyone who sells pairs yet, but may just get two sets..although this is a more expensive way of getting them.

In general terms, I found the standard D'Lites varied in intenstiy. Red were the best, yellow were next brightest but looked very ordinary like a small torch, green were quite dim and disappointing and the blue ones were about the same as the green. I reckon red are best as they show up well and stand out against background colours quite well. I haven't seen the multicoloured or morphing ones so can't say anything about them.

you fully control it. you'll see when you buy it. like i say, it's basically 2 lites in one.
although i've only seen them in green/red, good thing those are the colours id go for

Thanks for the advice.

Couldnt find any suppliers that had pairs of the colour changing d'lites, so just went with a pair of the standard red for now and will look into the others at another time.

Cheers for the support.
