Hi

I want to ask a girl to go out with me. I met her about 3 months ago doing street magic and I know that she really likes magic so I thought to do ask her with a magic trick.

when the paper is burned and you are left with a rose

But at the moment I do not have any flash paper.

Is there any other good rose production????

Or is there any other trick which could help me????

why not just a simple D-lift?

your top card could just be your phone number or a little message to her?

just ask her out straight though...best bet...

or draw a heart on a card, and do a torn and restored? and tell alittle story...

We've had this sort of discussion a couple of times before and I think the best answer came from, if I remember right and apologies if it wasn't, Mistress of Magic which was - just ask her out. No need to do all that impressive testosterone fuelled male stuff, just ask her out. She'll appreciate your honesty and the uncomplicated approach - you can show her the finger flinging magic stuff later.

I was trying so hard to keep it clean as well - oh well, back to the drawing board!

(By the way, when things went wrong before the drawing board was invented, what did people go back to ?)

i find the best way to keep it clean is plenty of soap, and occasionally an apricot rub

Actually, the 'Cheesy Pickup Lines' thread might help Peacock - just don't use any of them and you should be OK !

I used to use the ID and tell them that if i could read their thoughts they have to give me their number..

then if i could.. they have to...

then .. etc

or at least if I was into magic when I used to chase girls.. thats what I'd have probably done with it

There's the Zamiels Rose routine taught on Derren Browns Devils picturebook DVD which is a great effect in which the their chosen card is not only revealed but then disappears into a shower of rose petals when flicked. Great romantic patter with it too. Quite a difficult trick though.

I think it is best though to just be yourself, ask her out and keep the magic in the background a little and just whip it out when she asks......for the dirty minded amongst you I mean't the magic.....even that sounds mucky

Jay Sankey also has a DVD called "Firestarters" which could help you with some approaches. However, I would recommend just being forthright and directly approach her and tell her you would like to get to know her. Gimmicks tend to set a "I will perform for you on command" idea that shouldn't be present in a traditional courting.

I think it's not so clear cut with someone you've known for a while. It all depends on how well you know them and what kind of relationship you've got at the moment. It's not my style, but it could be kinda cute. Personally though I'd just be myself.

Something like the rose thing would be good for Valentines day though .
