IT's a bar steward

Postby I.D » Nov 10th, '06, 14:52

Hey folks..

searched the forum.. the search function can be quite temperemental at the moment. I can't find any suitable information on IT

I have bought a few different types of IT over the last few months and I find it near impossible to use..

I also use Michael Ammars wax ( have.. not use ) and maybe Im just being foolish but I have trouble getting it to stick to IT or securing IT to objects with IT, have trouble seeing IT ( after I drop it on the carpet ) holing IT in place, cutting it to the right length or once I make what I want after many attempts.. it falls off my flesh/nail.. and cant seem to get an effect to take place.. yet.

I would like to know any resources that I can look into to help me use IT with ease.. I have seen STEALTH LOOPS at NUMS but I dont know whether it is a resource I could benefit from. I have also seen 'Who's afraid of invisble thread' somewhere.. would this be the kind of resource I would need?

I have loads of effects I can use it for.. but cant

As an alternative to the TM Search function you can always try the Google with site:.talkmagic.co.uk "XXXX" but put your item instead of XXXX. The big problem with this specific request is that the word 'it' is the same as 'IT' and appears in just about every post so you need to narrow things down as much as possible with additional words spelled out in full  .

There are different types of IT everywhere. From super strong and silky to indian. You can make your own from certain things and they all come in so many different guises from strands to reels to l**ps (hope I'm not giving anything away - delete or edit as appropriate mods).

I think it's Seige who has a nifty way of making something with IT but your choice of IT needs to be a wise one.

I'm rambling...... god damn friday boredom blues LOL - PM me for more info!!

If you intend on using loops then I would highly recommend the stealth system. I only use loops every now and then but still find stealth the cheaper option.
It gives you the ability to tie your own loops and once you have the technique, quickly.
I can now tie 5 loops in about the same number of minutes. If you do buy it you will look at the instructions and think you've been jipped but once you build the device (very easy and I cant even open a milk carton without trouble) and try it out you will be quite amazed.

As far as IT goes I've had trouble too but with which brand to get. I bought some for penguin magic, Pet 2.0 I think it's called, and it is far too stretchy and breaks very easily.

i think its emagictricks that sells the wizard IT reel, thats very very good, absolutely silent too...£16 or so if memory serves...

what i did was buy a cheapo version for a fiver first of all, and just practised for a few months til i was more confident...then treated myself to smarter versions...

though i've heard nothing but good about Seige's stuff...

Does it really matter the brand???? I mean anyone with a bit of practice in our art knows it's simply merchandising!!! It is a particular regularly made substance - BW!!! Tacks also help espesh white but there is no real difference between waxes!

I have had the same struggles as you when it comes to wanting to be more active with IT in my performances. However......since purchasing an ITR my worries are gone, and life with it seems complete....until I find something else to buy that is!
