Thief tricked by David Copperfield pleads guilty

Postby humdai » Nov 11th, '06, 00:37

There is an interesting article on cnn:

"Three attempted thieves fell for David Copperfield's "nothing in my pockets" trick."

Try to be a bit more positive David.

Though your phsycic skills allows you to read news a mont before they happen, you could take a more positive tone in your replies.
The news online was
POSTED: 1319 GMT (2119 HKT), November 10, 2006
which was the same day as humdai posted. The incident happened before, but the guy plead guilty this week!

I read about Harry Houdini when I was 12... doesn't mean somebody can't post a thread about him today... eh?

Who would be "smart" enough to take a magicians word that his pockets are empty

If they didn't know he was a magician...I'm not even going to go there.......

Now is this "nothing in my pants trick" in existance, or did he just palm his cell phone and passport? If it is real, where can I buy it ?

You're right about him pelading guilty this week, but humdai didn't actually explain that in his post. He was basically just saying what has been said before but providing us with a new link.

This is from the old post:

Obtained from Fox News and thought it was relevant to this thread:

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida — Illusionist David Copperfield magically escaped getting robbed.

After his show at a West Palm Beach performing arts center Sunday Copperfield was walking with two female assistants back to their tour bus when four teenagers pulled up in a black car and two armed demanded the group's belongings, according to police.

An assistant handed over $400 from her pockets while the other gave up her purse with euro200, $100, her passport, plane tickets and a cellphone. Copperfield refused to empty his pockets, the report said.

Copperfield says he turned his pockets inside out to reveal nothing in them, even though he was carrying his passport, wallet and cell phone.

"Call it reverse pick-pocketing," Copperfield told The Palm Beach Post for its Wednesday editions.

When the alleged robbers left in the car Copperfield read the license plate number to an assistant while she called 911.

Four teenagers were arrested shortly after and the assistants' property recovered. They were charged with armed robbery and are being held without bond. Three of the alleged robbers are 17, while the fourth, Dwayne Riley, is 18-years-old.

Dear Delude. Please read the title of the thread:
Thief tricked by David Copperfield pleads guilty.
Isn't that the new news from 10. November?
Isn't that exactly what humdai's thread is about?

What I was pointing out, why David had to put humdai down by saying he read this story a month ago, when they plead guilty on 10. November. That is what is in the title, that is what humdai wrote!

Off on a tangent a bit here but when the news was very new, ie. a day or two old, Go Magic Go played the recording of Copperfield's assistant calling 911 in which she says that everyone in the group had their belongings taken, including David himself. Then a couple of days after that when the story became more widespread it apparently turned out that Copperfield had done a bit of nifty trickery and apparently shown his pockets empty.

Spin anyone?

The artist who does not rise, descends.

I think what the deal was is that he made have been able to keep his cellphone, but nothing else. Copperfield's passport was itself found on one of the pick pockets.

It was a really nice bit of spin, though. I guess Copperfield didn't want to mess up and get shot. I'm not sure if anyone could be expected to perform well under that kind of pressure.

Reminds me of that scene in Carter Beats the Devil, though, when they are waylaid by pirates who force him to perform a magic show.

I used to like Copperfield until I found out that he's a deep occultist. I worked for him and saw firsthand that he isn't what the media portrays him as.

He gets supernatural help for most of his illusion. You guys need to know this stuff and that's why I'm exposing him on forums.

OK then, tell us the stuff we need to know.
It seems you're busting to expose him, as you've posted the same information in numerous threads.
