Ok im kinda new to magic and now about 6 or 7 card tricks and basic coin tricks like the simple vanish. I have been interested in magic forever i use a blue deck of bicycle cards and am gonna get a red one to do two deck tricks. I already know a few that take two cards. So here is my question I have seen the M5 System on ellusionist.com and am from the U.S. I really like what it does but i have also seen the bat that is like 4 times cheaper at penguin.com. So which one is better to do the most tricks with? I just wanna amaze my friends at school and join the local magic club. WHat does it mean to keep the M5 away from like computers, tvs, and electric things what will happen do u have to do that with the bat too?

I dont own the bat. But I've heard it is ALOT stronger than the bat.

Stay away from computers, tv's etc means that if your too close it will, well mess it up.

Use the search function, look in review requests, there has been lots of things posted recently about the M5, Monster Bertha etc [Monster Bertha, is basically the same product, look on NUMS]

Bat is for more smaller PK effects I would of thought.

I would say the m5 is 10 times better than the bat but at the end of the day it really depends on your style. With the m5 definatly stay away from tvs and computers etc. I dont think you have to be as carful eith the bat but you should still take some precautions.

From what you have told us about yourself in the post above, my personal recommendation is to forget about buying either of these for the time being.

If you're serious about magic and wanting to learn, there are far more things that you could spend your money on before one of these. If you read any of the posts on these items elsewhere on the forum then you will observe that most serious magicians haven;t used their bats, ravens etc. for a long long time.

Buy yourself some good card books or DVD's to learn from and in six months time you won't feel like you've wasted your money and with practice you should be impressing the hell out of people with your new found card skills.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I agree with DAT....... M5 et al is not something you want to be learning straight away as there is only so far you can go with it.... what you want is something like Cutting Edge Cards and Magic dvd or some other comprehensive tool that will teach you a variety of tricks in a particular media such as cards or coins!!

Honestly, you'll be much more satisfied if you take this route!! Then later on you can introduce PK effects with much more impact!

If you really want to learn coin magic, by Bobo's Modern Coin Magic. It covers all you need to know to get started and more. There are many coin magicians out there that only use sleights and ideas found in Bobo's. It is a classic.
