- Tabbrowser Preferences ( = better tabbed browsing)
- IE View (when you encounter compatibility problems with firefox on a page, just right click and select : View this page in IE)
- Gmail Notifier (if you are using Gmail)
- Forecastfox (weather info)
- FootieFox (real time football results)
- Paste and Go

There are actually thousands of them, it depends on what you want to do (my advice is just install the ones you will use, there is a disease similar to CUPS (no money involved at least :D ) when you start installing FF extensions :D )

It all depends on how much extra processing time and load cycles you wish to inflict on your PC...

Good choice on getting FF.
I can't even use IE anymore.

I would definitely recommend NOSCRIPT, I can't live without it.
Noscript Url:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/722/

BTW - IE7 is out, which has many features just blatantly ripped from FF, anyway you can upgrade to IE7 through automatic updates.

You can get this add-on that records off YouTube.

Edit: 'off YouTube' not 'of YouTube'

It blocks javascript, which is one of the most common ways for malicious software to exploit vulnerabilities in your browser.

When you trust a site, simply right click on the little Noscript icon in the bottom right corner of your window, and click on 'allow', then that site will have full javascript access. All other sites will have javascript blocked.

It means less stupid pop-up windows etc etc.

Try it, its free, and makes browsing that little bit safer.

(If you've ever had winfixer or other spyware install itself through IE even though you clicked 'Do Not Install', then you will want to block javascript as much as anyone.)

Oh, and you could put Wikipedia in the list of search engines (the bar in the top right corner), that can be very helpful when looking things up, there's that and more here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/search-engines.php
IMDB is also useful if youre into films.

I'm not sure why exactly.

But I know that MSN Messenger always uses IE when I want to go to my inbox. And it might just be that since Microsoft is competing with FF, they make it so mail always opens in IE. It's just one of those strange/annoying things you get on a PC.

On another note, here's some shortcuts I use alot:
CTRL+T = New tab
CTRL+N = New window
CTRL+K = type in top right box, you can use CTRL+Up/Down to cycle through the search engines, then press enter.

CTRL+F = search open page for certain words (bottom of window).

This doesn't make any sense. Firefox is 100% open source. That's the point.

Tens of thousands of private programmers study the source code in minute detail trying to be the first to report the latest and greatest vulnerability as a badge of honour, and regularly build and run it themselves from the sources.

Your problem is either with trusting a false positive from Spybot (did you update it recently), from pre-existing spyware that waits for Firefox to be installed, or some other Windows problem.

Sorry if I sound rather bullish, but I think you're blaming the wrong thing here.

Absolutely not.... every and I MEAN EVERY spyware detected was firefox related every single one!!

Spybot is fully up to date.

It's a bit of a coincidence that as soon as firefox is removed all the spybots disappear....

To give it faith I reinstalled firefox and guess what? Spyware back!!!

Was this Firefox from Mozilla itself? Download the OFFICIAL binary and if there's something wrong it must be your system, because there's never been any reports of this sort of thing at all. I mean, you can check the md5 checksums if you want.

The reason I'm fighting this is that Firefox is the darling of the open source community. There'd be a global scandal if it were anything other. Millions of downloads later and no spyware at all either in the source code or in the binaries from the official Mozilla site. The place the problem exists, logically, is your computer.

The only other thing I can think of is that your Spybot installation might be infected. Uninstall it, reinstall it from an official source. Now install Firefox. If it's still happening, I'd download a freebie virus checker just to triangulate on the problem.

Something is horribly here.
