What has magic taught you?

Postby michaelgap1 » Nov 21st, '06, 17:06

I want to ask the you what performing magic has taught you.
Magic has taught me, that people see, what they want to see.
Another thing I learned: Presentation is everything.

Thanks to all replies.

helllo there..please re-read the forum guides/rules and pop along to the introduction section and tell us all a bit more about yourself ok! :D

in answer to your question -

more confidence
story telling
rapport
increased dexterity
no matter the "what", the "why" is the most important...

alot more too, but thats the first lot...

How you present yourself to TalkMagic will have a big impact on how people perceive you, too. A nice introduction in the introductions section will go a long way to showing that you've read the guidelines and won't do anything daft.

EDIT: It's taught me to feel the fear and do it anyway, because the rewards can greatly outweigh the risks. And if it all goes wrong, well, that's entertainment!

I find that those two often have little to do with each other. :)

When it comes to first impressions, magic taught me to always get a second opinion.

Also, that despite appearances, things are often much simpler than they appear.

I feel that magic has taught me... HOW TO LIE!!

But magic has definitely improved my confidence vastly, my people skills, rapid and spontaneous thinking, quick jokes and much more.

-Confidence
-People skills
-Public Appearances (I had my first the other night!)
-Quick thinking
-Problem solving
-Memory skills
-Psychology

And probably more! And i have been doing magic for less than 2 years!

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...

Everything I've learnt is basically already been said.

BUt it has also shown me that there are alot of stubborn people out there, those hecklers.

But also some of the most simple things have the biggest impact.

My confidence mostly though.

It's taught me that there is nothing more satisfying in life than a top-change.
