cant comment from first hand experience, but before reading the above I didn;t even know that Sadowitz was published, sad I know. I will now be buying card zones, which is all 5 or their books in one. Lennart Green, Bill Malone and others mention Jerry in their videos and hold him in high regard. Thats enough for me to buy them.

Get Card Zones from Martin Breese. A bargain in my view. Both Jerry and Peter are very well known within Card magic circles, and highly respected too for that matter.

Never, ever judge a book by it's cover!

Having emailed Peter Duffie a few times he recommended a couple of alternative books to me which have been excellent, so far...."The Card Magic of Le Paul" and "Dai Vernons Inner Card Trilogy". I am still trying to get my head (and more importantly my hands) round a lot of the sleights but I am getting there...

Also just waiting for Daryls Encyclopedia and Derren Browns "Devils Picturebook" to arrive and then thats me with years of practice already mapped out ahead of me!

You're right, that lot should keep you busy for some good while! Derren's video is very good too.

ask him if its true that he is royally pi**ed off at having his name attached to a few books, when he has actually only commissioned the recent Zarrow book.

can you also let him know that his Roy Walton moments on his tv show in the early 90's were/are by far the best tv I've ever seen.......
last time I saw Jerry was in the international magic shop in London and I was so completely star struck that I hardly said two words to him, except "I'd like to change this magic mat please".

he is one of the greats in my opinion.

Jerry The Star

Postby Pedey » Aug 13th, '03, 02:36

The last time I saw him was also at International Magic. He was perfectly demoing the Rainbow Deck to a couple of young newcomers to magic at the counter.

They may have known who he is, but I doubt it. Either way, how many published cardician's do you know who will not only demonstrate a trick such as the Rainbow Deck (if you get my meaning,) but also show the two some variations when they were umming and ahhing about the cost.

Unfortunately I had a very busy day on Wednesday so missed meeting up with Jerry.

He is also very busy at the moment & will be away from the 18th of August.

I recently bought some books & videos from his private collection & some of the material is superb, I am sure that he will really appreciate your comments, it's funny some people I have met can't stand him but I have found Jerry to be such a nice guy & completely different from his stage act, he has helped so many young magicians, mind you he is working on a commision & I normally come out of International Magic with lighter pockets.

Like us all he is still looking for that ultimate trick.

I have just managed to speak to Jerry & he really appreciates your comments, this is what he said to me.

its nice to know that there are a few magicians who like me..I long ago "accepted" the idea that they all hate my guts for one mythical reason or another!

You either like him or you don't he has never been rude to me so I can only judge him in this way.

If he has upset other people then that is between Jerry & that person to sort out, I cannot fault the guy.

He did not comment on the books.

IMHO Jerry is a truly skilled guy - most other magi acknowledge his sleights/moves and help with their acts etc. The big downside for me is/was his regular @#&*% use of foul @#&*% language so I find it difficult to stay watching for too long if he's on the @#&*% box.

However, I'm glad to hear that his 'other' persona is more genteel - I might even get to stay watching a bit longer next time! The guy's a genius and I have a lot of respect for someone like Jerry who's worked his way up through sheer graft.

Jerry does need to control his swearing as a friend of mine visited International Magic a while ago & had to have a quite word with Jerry about swearing in front of his seven year old son, which Jerry replied "**** *** it's the way I talk & if you don't like it take him out of the shop" all I can say is that he must have been having a bad day.

Apart from his swearing he is still a great magician but maybe not for a children's party.

Come to think of it, whith some of the 'children' I met on holiday (foul mothed little %&*@*s they were as well) Jerry would probably be just the right kind of guy to sort them out!
