Competence, confidence and an ability to demonstrate that you have been studying really..... some are quite stiff and others are more relaxed..... but if you make north devon lol.... you've already passed the audition!!!

There are many here who are active in clubs and will give you the details but it varies from club to club. Usually as long as you can do a few effects competently and illustrate that you're not just a secrets seeker, you'll be accepted. They're not looking for a mind blowing perfomance and they'll probably know the effects anyway so just concentrating on doing the best you can is about as far as you can go.

It's a good book, but a lot of theory, not a lot of presentation stuff. I own the book, but haven't got round to reading it yet. From what I can gather, it's split into sections. Something like 'Vanishes', 'Productions', 'Transpositions' etc, with each section broken down into theories as to how the effect is achieved, for example, 'Productions' is split into 'the item was already there, but concealed', 'the original item was not there, but brought into play during some misdirection' etc.

Basically it's how magic is done, but not explaining the sleights or apparatus involved.

I think I've explained that OK.

That sounds like a very dull book.
