I've actually toyed with the idea of creating a website that offers information on magic shops and online sites that people can look up.

It was really born out of my joy in travelling somewhere and checking out their local magic shops. Generally I find their selections to be a decent indication of what working performers use in certain areas. I could be way off - but it's fun seeing who carries what.

Not to mention that, for the most part - magic shops have a great feeling of camaraderie. I've lost track of how many 1-2 hour long conversations I've had with people in magic shops. Great fun!

Anyway - if anyone is interested in helping me out with this idea, I'd be glad to get the ball rolling.

I know what you mean - that was one of the reasons I created the UK list on the IMS website.

It would be great to do a US based one, but to be honest it was difficult enough getting the information for the UK one. Th emind boggles at the work that would be involved in creating one for the US.

Maybe it is a project I will start in the New year.

True - which is probably why I haven't started on it, yet!

I was thinking perhaps start in a localized area (northeast US, East coast US - that kind of thing) and maybe generating a little buzz on some forums - perhaps enough for people to come to me with information that could help with my own research.

If you're going to do a US-based one - I'd be glad to help out! Let me know.
