Welcome! I am also new here. Since we do not reveal secrets in this forum I am not sure it would be appropriate if I explain this to you. However I am sure you very soon will work it out. All I can say is that it is one of the most used slights in Card magic. Did you never hear about the strike- D/L ?
Unfortunately the concept is explained on wikipidia which I think undermines our magic. Anyway I am sure you heard about the slight.

Hello to you all.
I thought I would join this forum for a few reasons, one of which is curiosity about what you do, and the other because I have an interest in what you do. I myself am not involved with magic, but please do not let this statement create barriers. I am thirty five years old, as indicated, and my only knowledge of magic came through performers such as Paul Daniels at a very young age. My interest was recently stirred by the performer Derren Brown, and I have seen some of David Blaine's work, but other than this I know very little.
A couple of years ago I was working toward a Degree in Mental Health Nursing, but this is no more, left in my second year. I have since succumbed to a nine to five within a small family business, and spend much of my time in artistic endevours. I hope to learn something about what Magic is, to be intrigued, and maybe inspired.
