The Great :: oh dear :: Hunt

Postby Lawrence » Dec 3rd, '06, 12:57

as some of you may have noticed i have a tendency to write ::oh dear :: under a few of my posts, because i don't seem to be able to find a suitable emoticon, and after a while of looking I'm out of ideas.
anyone got anything suitable? i can see it in my head what i want, a little smiley face thing, probably a frowning face to be fair, just looking down a bit and shaking his head in some form of dissapproving/disappointed manner.
help?

also, this could lead on to more emoticons, if anyone else has these kind of "there is no emoticon for what I'm feeling" moments then let us know what you want one for any others can try and find something suitable

let the games begin...

Try expanding your vocabulary instead. I've always thought that emoticons are rubbish. English is a pretty expressive language. If you can't convey what you want to without resorting to daft, kiddie pictures you didn't pay enough attention at school.

je..ow. perhaps a touch uncalled for.
I never was all that good with english, guess that's why I'm doing a maths degree.

Also, some 13/14 year old net nerds don't get over witty retorts, but will understand the :: oh dear :: emoticon more, i feel.

on that note, i was contact juggling in the bus station because i was bored and waiting for a bus the other day, and a couple of kids were watching me; i stopped and looked over at them, the follow (brief) conversation went like this:
"what're you looking at?"
"i assume you're being rhetorical"
"what're you callin' me?"

definately :: oh dear :: material there

Emoticons are a pet hate of mine, but I apologise for the tone of my post. Sorry.

no worries, i probably didn't express the full point of this hunt fully anyway. i rarely use emoticons myself, but i feel having the :: oh dear :: one i can see in my head will help get the message across to certain people.

Ahhhhhh, the good old dancing bannana. Apparently they're bringing a life size moving model of this out sometime next year *fingers crossed*.
