Favorite/best coin tricks?

Postby Misery » Dec 5th, '06, 04:03

Since I'm not allowed in the restricted area yet, I figured this would be the next best place to put this thread.

So what are your favorite coin tricks? I'm trying to learn some more, but I'm not quite sure myself where to begin.

But I think one of my favorites is the coin bite, followed by a snap vanish to deter those who want to see more. (Well, that's what I have to do for now, since I don't know much!)

My own extension to Derren Brown's "Perfect Coin Prediction". He does it with a 10p and dismisses it as getting too unreliable to perform in Pure Effect. Not so. I worked out how to do it with any gold or silver UK coin with a good degree of accuracy.

There are a few in Bobo which I regularly use, none of which are difficult.

Gone
Two Pennies on Leg
and Sympathetic Coins done kneeling down on the carpet.

If you don't have a copy of Bobo, that's where to begin.

I really must put more effort into coin magic. I spend time much time just trying to master the classic palm I dont put time into all the effects I could quite easily do with a bit of practice!!

I always do kevin parkers revolution right after a coin bite.. get rid of the bu**er before they ask for it back

I found that just using the palm with tricks while practising rather than practising it seperately brought it to me natuarally. As long as you have the idea down then it should come to you fairly easily. Obviously the more practice the better, killing two birds with one stone :)

Hope that helps

Sam :)

I currently use two coin routines on a regular basis.

One of my all-time favorites is just a simple copper silver routine that ends with a coin change in the spectator's hand.

My current favorite is a routine I developed on my own (though I'm sure thousands of better performers have done it before me), using Chinese coins. It's a multi-phase color changing routine with some spectator involvement.

Basically - it's the old Color changing chinese coin routine - goes from black to red - back to black. Then it changes to blue. The coin is then given to a spectator to hold it - and I remark how I can tell by the look in their eyes they wish they could do this trick. Not only can I see it in their eyes that they are now green with envy - but I can see it in the coin. The spec opens their hand to see the coin is now green. Taking it back, I hand it off to another spec to hold saying I could show them a different trick using the green coin, but it pales in comparison. At this point, I ask the spec to open their hand and the coin is now white. I'm clean at the end and I've had some pretty good reactions to it. It also helps that it's dead easy to pull off - which is good, considering my coin work is still in the early stages.

As was said before - check out the bobo book. You don't need much beyond that.

I have two rather distinct marks on my right hand where I walk around gripping the coins in classic palm whilst going about my life.. Ive got a really light grip down but when I use the classic palm to effect.. trying to go from coin lying in classic palm position to actually being in classic palm.. lets say in a false transfer it doesnt stay there easy.. when it does it doesnt look as natural as it should.. considering i can mirror my left hand when placing the coin into right classic palm.

Oh well.. practie more i guess

I also like Copper SIlver as Demitri has said but I also love the coin unique.
