It seems as though there are some hidden issues over this, Paul and many of his fans have asked about repeats or perhaps DVD releases but the BBC still won't play ball. They've mentioned requiring a 5 figure sum per show to release them for DVD.

With this kind of ransom attitude, effectively the BBC are refusing to allow them to be shown or released but seem to forget that the funding for those shows was all from the licence fees paid by punters like us.

If you e-mail the BBC and ask about showing them, all you'll get is their standard 'We will pass it on to the appropriate people for consideration' response and you never hear anything more.

Considering we all (i take it well uk members) have a tv and pay there BBC "tax" we all own the BBC. the fee is about £100 a year i think or just over i am not sure. But there is over 7,000 talkmagic users so thats over 700 grand. Why dosnet every member of talk magic email the bbc and ask them to show Pauls shows?

If they get enough request over a week or two they may change there minds. Actualyl the way the BBC waste public money outrages me so i shall say no more on them.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Lets all make a pact and do it then..

we should gather a whole load of us who agree to email the BBC and come up with a ''standard'' email which we all send and can add to.. Over a one week period.. this surely would get a better response.. we might even make the news :D lol,

well.. maybe not .. lol

I'm in!
Of course, thousands of lay people loved the Paul Daniels show and I'm sure quite a few copies would be sold.
A company like Network are most likely to release them if anyone. They leased the Goodies from the BBC and released them. It's shocking the stuff the beeb do release when there are some real gems in the archive festering away.

Really?
I would love to see him perform these days, I have never seen him advertised anywhere.
The first time I saw Paul was on the 70's show "Wheeltappers and Shunters" which I shouldn't imagine many others remember.

Blimey!
Seeing him in a small venue like that would be fantastic.
I can't understand why he's not playing the big theatres as he's still a household name, surely.
Apart from the Louis Theroux doc, the last time I saw him performing magic was on the sadly axed Channel Five variety show, The Big Stage.

It was Paul Daniels who first got in interested in magic in the first place. I'd love to see him live.

He's inspired a lot of us.
HIs magic sets and packet card tricks got me interested when I was younger and he was always superb and very entertaining on tv.
I saw him do a levatation trick on The Big Stage where had a cardboard box with holes in it and a hula hoop with a curtain round it in his hands.
When he raised the curtain you could see through the box.

I worked out the principle, but it was his presentation as always that made it special. His card tricks in "The Bunco Booth" were always a joy to watch too.

Paul Daniels Website wrote: December 9 - Luton Hospital to do the 'An Audience with Paul Daniels' show and, if you want tickets for this night of hysterical comedy and astonishing magic, then you have to telephone the L&D Social Club box office on 01582 597292. It's the only way folks. If you want to 'check up' on the show then get in touch with any of the venues listed above - they will confirm you will have a great time AND be doing some good for charity.

11 to 16 - Hey... Paul in a straight play!!! Bah, Humbug! Paul will be Scrooge in A Christmas Carol at the Marina Theatre, Lowestoft. This is rare appearance so if you can be there, get there!

15 - Paul is doing a book signing, midday, in Waterstones in Lowestoft. The amazing thing is that he never wrote the book!!! How odd is that? It's a book in which various celebrities and famous persons write about their first ever car. It should be an interesting read and a good Christmas present for those who a. like cars and/or b. like collecting autographs. Fit the signature to the car!

This all sounds as though Paul is being written off - in fact he's far busier now than ever before, he travels all over the UK for gigs and these include theatres, cruise ship and cabaret circuit bookings as well as small Village Halls which is an aspect he particularly enjoys doing. If you check the thread re the Ipswich Magic Society Day last October you'll know that he got a standing ovation after his act. The big difference these days is that his props can easily fit in the back of his car rather than be transported by Juggernaut as in the old BBC TV show days. He's not far off 70 and can still provide a full evening of superb entertainment. If you get a chance to see him working then don’t miss it, it's money well spent.

I certainly will endeavour to see him when he's nearby,
One of Britain's greats. Does he perform more close-up these days?
When he was on Wheeltappers and Shunters he was performing amongst the audience. He was doing mainly card tricks which were very slick and well presented.
