Don't really know why I'm here...

Postby ^numpty^ » Dec 10th, '06, 11:01

I sort of got interested in this magic thing by accident really. Started off being impressed with a trick someone showed my with, what I later discovered were, a set of Svengali cards.

As a teacher in high school I started fumbling some moves in front of a couple of classes and, to my surprise, the kids were really impressed (!)

I've being buying up bits and piece for a few months now, practicing for the Christmas lunch in front of the family.

What I'd really like to be able to perfect is this: someone selects a card at random and returns it to the pack. I then cut the cards a few times and their card finds its way to the top. From here I can then develop the routine to suit. ..its just cutting the card to the top I'm stuck on.

If you know of a decent tutorial on this I'd be really appreciative.

Looking forward to spending time on here and (hopefully) developing my routines to the same standard as yours.

Welcome to TM!

Buy The Royal Road to Card Magic - it's a bargain and a great way to start in card magic. Look up Ambitious Card in it, that'll tell you all you need to know :D.

Hi and welcome to TM. If, like me, card sleights are not your forte then try a Stripper Deck along with Tomo's book all about how to use it to a very high standard. Search around for all the details - well worth the investment.

thanks for all the welcomes.

I have heard of the stripper deck and its on 'my list to buy' list.

I've been watching one of WAYNE HOUCHIN videos and was really impressed. I think the routine was called Indecent and his card control was really good.

Welcome to TM.
Royal Road to Card Magic is indeed a very good book, but if you find it difficult to "grasp" certein moves by reading about them (like me and Mandrake and many more), perhaps a DVD would be quicker and simpler.
There is a 5 DVD set with the same name RRtCM by R. Paul Wilson and it is highly reccomended. Don't buy the 4 DVD set also with same name, it's rubbish.
Where about in the world are you?
Best greetings from Iceland!
