excuse me if wrong, but from what i learned is the trick you learned from a book or a person could be use to create your own version of the trick or it could give the basic to create a trick. the sleight you learn could help you achieve that goal

what i met from copying other people trick is that i seen so many people promo videos doing the same trick they see on street magic videos without adding nothing to it and they expect to get on tv

I think you should always take a trick and adapt the patter and presentation to suit your own personal style. But that doesn't make it a new trick, you're still going to be performing the same or a very similar method.

Ah! I get you now. I'm in full agreement. I think part of learning a new effect is to strip it down, then rebuild it into something that's uniquely yours. Just copying a performance is really a bit like doing an bad impression of someone.

Or as Paul Daniels once said, "never read the instructions".

Oh i get it now, Yes take an effect and make it your own , I think every one here will agree with you. Take a trick ansd strip it down rebuild it and make it your own.

I think two tricks that define this are the cups and balls and the ACR 2 tricks same moves etc but the routines are all constructed diffrently

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

The worst thing any magish can do is perform a trick exactly as per the instructions and routine included - it's always far better and probably easier when personalised. In fact I'm sure I read somewhere that many of the large expensive tricks/illusions come with no instructions at all as it's assumed the performers will develop their own versions anyway.

To perform well, you need to make sure that all the tricks in your routine link and flow together. You need to adapt the performance and patter to suit your own style and personality.

I like to perform in quite and laid back and fun way, where as with the recent trend in street magic most moden tricks are presented in quite a dark and serious 'Blainesque' style. That doesn't suit me and I'd just look silly if I tried to pull that style off so I have to look at the trick learn the mechanics of it and then usually totally write my own patter, story and presentation for it.
