pubic indoor areas

This damn nanny state, even our pubes are no longer our own property...

Seriously though, this kinda annoys me, both as an occaisional social smoker and as a performer... I have yet to try out Derren Brown's "Smoke" in front people. I guess this has given me a deadline to work to...

Lol - made me chuckle

By the way - is your name taken from the guy that sang, "here comes the hotstepper?" .... 'cos I thought it was Ini Kamoze (although I may be wrong  )

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Smoking has been banned indoors for a few years now in Ireland. People standing outside smoking and bored are much more likely to pay attention to your vanishing cigarettes than the people inside in my experience.

I can't see it making that much of a difference at all. Although I don't smoke and hate comming away smelling of smoke so am actually looking forward to the ban. Because of that I personally don't do any cigarette tricks.

I cigarette is just a prop most of the time and doesn't involve it actually being smoked (although not always the case). I'm sure you could get away with a non lit cigarette or maybe find something else to use in its place. How about thinking of alternative methods for a trick that doesn't involve smoking, I can think of a few other ways to perform Smoke for instance.

Personally, I find that the ban will make non-lit cigarette magic even more fun...

Here's some effects which could be used readily...

1. Cigarette up nose
The classic ciggy vanish... you could take out a cigarette and say "Due to the new smoking bans, we are now not aloud to smoke cigarettes anymore during performance, but I do still crave nicotine, and I've discovered a novel new way to get it in my system..."

2. Torn & restored cigarette
Again, relevant humorous patter... "Damnit, I forgot we can't smoke anymore... "

3. Flash production of cigarette
You can't light the cigarette, but the old 'rolling paper becoming a real filter tipped ciggy' effect is fine. Could combine with no.1, the cig up nose

4. OutSmokin'
A great routine, which again can fall into the 'Since the cig ban, I just find myself unable to even attempt a smoke!' category. great un-lit performance potential

5. Floating cigarette
Who says it needs to be lit?

I used to love performing cigarette stuff when I smoked. And since I stopped, I still do bits and bobs of cig magic with unlit ciggies, if I'm in the company of smokers.

And remember guys, you can still perform at parties and private functions... most of these are not covered by the ban.

My kind of lady!

I agree 100% The ban is reaching Iceland a month earlier, June 1st and I and most of my friends are looking foreward to it.
I dunnow how it is in jolly old England, but in Iceland only 18% of people smoke regularly, but that figure goes up to 22,5% when social smoking is added.
Still an annoying minority group

Some cigarette magicians have switched to pens, drinking straws and other similar items.
