Mornin'

Hello all.

From what I've read, Createing a Introduction should save a bit of pain down the road.

I've been intrested in magic for as long as I can remember. Watching TV shows and such. Only last year did I pick up a deck of cards and try my hand at a bit of magic. I didn't really get anywhere and family life wasn't to good, bla bla. Anyways, I'm back now. Fresh as a daisy.

Due to the fact that I earn 15 Pounds a week. 10 pounds of which goes into a bank account. I'm making my way on homemade stuff.
Invisible string made from normal cotton thread, PVA glue, Double sided cards.

I know only a few techniques. I thought I was pretty clever when I worked out how to vanish a card. Only to find out I'd "invented" the classic vanish. :P
I've played with Tenkai (god, I hope I spelt that right). Not so good yet.
I know a collection of other card tricks, of which I'm practiseing.

I have the Wizard PK ring ordered, which I should get before christmas. I'm hoping this combined with a few card and coin rountines PLUS one helleva alot of practise. Should ready myself for a small public showing. Thats the goal anyway...

I'm hoping that hanging around TalkMagic I will absorb the magic vibes, helping on my way to being a better magician.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...

Hello.

Hello fresh Salad and welcome to TM.
Don't plan to jump out a fully functioning magician in a few days, weeks or months... :)
The best thing is to practice and when you have done that, then practice some more. In front of a mirror is very good, then you can see the spectator's view too.
I'm sure you will enjoy the forums. There is a lot of wisdom to be absorbed here.
Best greetings from Iceland!

You're not wrong there, thanks for taking the time to read up what to do/not do first, and a very warm welcome to TM!

PS Are you called Saladman because you are a BA, a PhD and therefore have lettuce after your name? (OK, sorry, I've not been well lately, I'll get my coat on the way out.......)

Thank you for your warm welcomes and I fully understand that magic takes time...lots of time.

But really I'l always be an eager newbie. Always learning.

Saladman...err. That was given to me by a prank I pulled in primary school...

Welcome. I'd say magic comes in fits and starts. I can perform magic tricks that make people say "wow". But I'm by no means experienced in the field.

Magic builds up over time. Sometime, you have to practice and practice and practice a trick. Sometimes you just have to link ones you know well in a better way. Sometimes you just have to be more entertaining with what you do already.

Keep at it and don't rush. It's better to perform something simple well than to perform something complex badly.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
