There's a chance I might be doing a few kids/family performances around the New Year period - just for friends, and as an excuse for me to test those waters.

I'm keen to make the comedy and 'business' more dominant than the magical punchlines, so I'm looking for gags that will take each routine off on a wild tangent.

In particular, I want to give the impression that something is alive in one of the boxes on my table. The idea is to put items in the box and have them thrown out again a few moments later. Obviously, I'll need a time-delayed spring or catapult-type device, but I've got no idea where to look for such a thing.

Anyone out there have a suggestion?
