Perhaps it could be made, maybe not a rule but forum etiquette that anyone wanting to talk via MSN or ICQ or whatever, PM asking permission first. It'd save alot of these types of problems.

I agree with everything you said there and probably the answer to the above question is no.
I think a healthy amount of friendly banter is healthy for any forum in order for it not to take itself too seriously but when it gets to the point where it makes any member feel uncomfortable, bullied or discriminated against for any reason then it is something that should not be tolerated by any member of the site.
I think up to now this forum has been and will continue to be a friendly and informative place as long as the majority (which it is) act responsibly. I for one have learn't alot and laughed alot at this forum and by gum that's a great thing.

Some people do get rather excited by a female present, its quite strange I find it odd!! :?

Theres a difference between light hearted banter and being serious!! I flirt by nature, with guys and girls.. its just the way I am.. as i take nothing too seriously.. but its its worrying when certain people really start to believe that they have the need to get close to someone over the net.

Lady of Mystery.. I hope I have not offended you.. you know I love you

Dont get jealous Markdini... I love you too  call me!!

The best personal I ever saw became famous almost instantly. Not via me, I hasten to add. I just read it in Private Eye like loads of other people and laughed me socks off. It was from Spike Milligan and it said: "Spike Milligan seeks rich widow. Objective - murder!". And he got the most replies they ever had go through their smalls.

You've not offended me I.D. and I love you too

And I don't really want to stop you guys from the lighthearted banter. That's just a bit of fun and I don't mind that.

It's just when someone over steps the mark intentionally, I don't like it.

I'm not sure about MSN [I use a Mac], but AIM has a feature that allows only the people on your "buddy" list to know if you're even online[ this means wierdos can't even confirm that they spelled your SN correctly]. It's a neat privacy feature. The way it would work [for TM] would be to PM the person you want to contact and give your own SN. This gives the person you want to cantact complete control over contacting you via IM.[sorta]

PS I'm not affiliated with AIM or anything, it's just a more popular IM service at my school.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

MSN is avaible for Mac. I've been using it for years!
(Although it needs a lot of catching up work done to compete with the PC version)

Trillian is an IM program that uses almost all popular IM systems out there - MSN/AIM/IRC/ICQ/GoogleTalk/Jabber/Etc.

Right now it's PC only, but they've just started alpha tests on the new Trillian which will work on PC or Mac.

They offer both a free version, and a more advanced version for a fee. The Pro version *is* worth it. I use Trillian exclusively and it only requires I have 1 program running to talk to anyone on any of my lists.
