Warning - highly addictive!

I spent most of last night playing this: http://icculus.org/neverball/

It's a pair of related open source games. Take a look at the screenshots. One is deceptively simple. You tilt a table to move a ball and knock into enough coins to escape the level. The other is a crazy golf game. Seems simple enough, doesn't it, dull even, but I bet you can't put it down.

Here's another, a Godsim this time, again 100% free to download and play: http://www.glest.org/

In Glest, you control a band of warrior magi. I'm just at the point where I can fend off an attack by having a Summoner create enough Daemons to guard my encampment, with the help of a few fire bolts. Again, utterly addictive.

There's a long list of really good games out there being written by teams of people just for the love of it. So enjoy, but don't blame me if your life falls apart, you neglect your practice and end up a penniless addict like me!

EDIT: They're for Windows, by the way...

I was trying to get the hang of this addictive little number on the Logitech web site

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I managed to fend off a few small attacks then get my Summoner trained up enough to produce a squadron of dragons. The only problem was that the other lot came back with a squadron of flying machines and wiped me out... again!

Hehe... I won my first game using a rather crude 'sledgehammer' approach.

I slowly built up a team of loads of Initiates and set them gathering all the resources I could. I then had enough funds to build up a HUGE army (mainly dragons) before sending the lot accross the map to wipe out the bad guys (or good guys depending on your perspective). Great fun! Reminds me of a simplified 'Command and Conquer' one of my all time favourite games.

Yay! I created a bunch of horsemen and went on the rampage. Nearly knocked the other guy out, then regrouped, built a couple of catapults and attacked again. And won!

WooHoo! Congrats!

It's a shame there's no online multiplayer option... that would be fun!

Here's an interesting challenge for you, Tomo...

Play the 'ISLAND SIEGE' map against three CPU (Ultra) opponents. Seems inpossible at first but theres a great strategy I discovered and I can now win it easily. If you want the secret, PM me.... I guess it's not really exposure!

Wish they'd introduce more units for this game now.
