Hello All,

I felt like I had to post something here in praise of NothingUpMySleeve.co.uk!!!

I have used many many websites and shops to buy Magic from and my service from here has been exceptional everytime!! For anyone who is starting in Magic and looking for somewhere to get "A few bits" from this is definately the place - I ordered on the 19th (At night!!) and received my little parcel of fun just two days later!! At Christmas time too!!!!
You get an email stating the position of your order (Packing/Shipping etc..) and you can review your account purchases online!! I understand that most websites offer this but - I have been let down in the past with late and very late deliveries and in one case a broken trick!! :(

Anywho - I think that is enough said - I am all for positive encouragement and felt like I had to say something!!

Andy

I have never bought anything from NUMS, but I have bought a lot of items from a few different magic shops on the internet. Why not from NUMS?

Well, I have browsed the site a few times and when I see something interesting, I would like to see what the trick looks like. By most of them there is a button: DEMO WINDOWS. If I push this button, nothing happens. To be precise, a new window opens and nothing more.

I can imagine that it is because the demo vid is for Microsoft Windows only and as I have a Macintosh computer, this segregation NUMS have chosen, doesn't allow me to see their demo vids.

I PM'ed Seige about this a long time ago, but he never replied to me.

So, sorry to say, in the meantime, all my magic-money goes to other webshops, that do not practice segregation.

Gunnar, you do make me laugh...

The NUMS site was written all on Macintosh, and that's what we base all the stuff on. Unfortunately, most of the videos which are supplied to me by dealers are in WMV format, which is a proprietary Windows format.

If you took the trouble to download a Mac WMV player (such as FLIP) then your browser would play them without a problem.

As such, and being a small minority, the Mac viewers don't get to see the videos unless they have the codec installed. But as an avid Mac user, I guess you knew that, right?

Your email WAS replied to, stating exactly the same...

In the new year, I've worked on a new Flash video demo for all products which is cross-platform. This means even 'segregated' users can view the videos. Hallelujah!

Segregation? I don't think so :D

It often helps if you get your facts straight before posting.

I've bought a few things from NUMS and have always found the service top rate.

Well done Seige, keep up the good work.

Took the trouble? Arrogant choice of words to a possible customer!
But for your information, Yes, I got Flip4Mac installed in my computer and I can view WMV clips on other magic sites and I frequently do so.

Ehemm... no, it WAS NOT replied to. I got nothing from you and when I insisted, I got a shrug from you that you thought you replied to all e-mails except for Viagra etc. I thought it showed such a disinterest, so I didn't bother resending it.

Well I have found NUMS to be more than hepful.

When I first tried to use them there was no option for N. Ireland on their Paypal section, but one simple e-mail and a day later it was sorted with at least two responses stating what the problem was and that it was now fixed. This is one of the reasons why,( and there are a few ) whenever I am looking for anything NUMS is my first stop.

As for demo vids it is very easy to google an item and get a demo somewhere else and then back to NUMS to buy it!

Nums is quality. I have placed a few orders there and I have had no problems at all. emails are all replied to fairly quickly and prfessionally. I understand though that NUMS is not a full time job and takes up a lot of Seiges time!! ( I think )

Luckily for me, I have lots of patience :D but I usualyy get orders within a few days and replies to email withing 12 hours, though mostr of my emails are sent late at night past midnight!!

As a linux user, I have no problem with wmv and other animals. You just have to find the right viewer and the right codec.

I was just checking this out thoroughly and I can view on my Mac, without any problems, vids from many different magic shops, like for example:
Ellusionist
Penguinmagic
Magicvideodepot
Astormagic
JB Magic
Flash Magic
Spocmagic
Magictrickvideos
Houseofmagic.uk
Enigmagia

I don't have to go on the web to find, locate, change, download or do any advanced stuff, I can just view them by clicking on the link on the above mentioned websites. :) Very happy!

But as I said initially, with NUMS, I can't view any of the vids I've tried. And to add to the shame, Seige (which I'm sure is a very nice chap indeed) never replied to my PM to him regarding this. I have also received PM that he has not replied to 2 other PM's regarding NUMS. This is a business/company and of course he should not answer with arrogance or sarcastic remarks if he wants to attract more customers. Spend time on NUMS? Of course! This is his business!

TM on the other hand, is not business and I respect those who spend time helping out others in here. (Seige and many many others.) But NUMS is returning some money to Seige (I expect) and should be treated as such.

I'm sure Seige and NUMS have been very helpful, quick and good-priced for most, but I just think starting the reply to me in sarcasm was wrong. At least not the way someone running business should have done.

A: It's a part-time business. NUMS actually runs with barely any profit. It's a service to the magic community. My day job is quite different... I'm a web designer by trade ;)

B: The NEW flash engine has been added to NUMS. The first vid I've converted is on the Mullica Cigarette magic page. Please try it! It should get around the problems you're having.

C: Sorry if you thought I was sarcastic. Just my sense of humour I guess.

D: I try and reply to all emails and PMs. Suffice to say my inbox at TM is always 100% full, and if I missed you out, my apologies.

E: Please stop taking all this so personally. You can't please all of the people all of the time.

F: Oh, and all the vids on NUMS work both on my own Mac, the Macs at work, and a friends Mac. You just have to wait a while for them to load.

G: Damnit... I would hate to think I've lost customers because they can't see the videos! ( )

seige,

There are many places that I will not shop if I cannot view demos on my mac or the order pages require IE. If you are not using it already, there is a program called VisualHub that I use to convert video files from WMV and other formats. Also, I have Flip4Mac and it quite often fails to play WMV files on web pages.

Yep. I have visual hub.

But for some reason, it falls on it's *rse with some WMV files. Mostly if they contain any DRM info, as up to now, the Mac doesn't support Windows DRM.

I'm now using Final Cut Pro to re-edit and FLV all the files I can, and I have a disc full of demos from my main wholesaler.

See... I AM on the case :D
