I just watched an epsiode of Crack Magick with Barry & Stuart. What a lod of old tosh. I think these two are pretty good magicians and work well together, but the show as all style and no substance. Hardly any real magic. Camera tricks all over the place.

Waste of a TV slot IMHO.

I didn't see the show in question, but I think the same can be said for many T.V. Magic shows in this day and age.

Sometimes, I can't help thinking; "When's the next trick coming?" because they center around the reaction of spectators for so damn long on one trick that there's virtually no magic content at all. Thus is the nature of modern television I suppose, as you so wonderfully put it; " All style and no substance."

Quite depressing isn't it - there is very little magic performance on the TV you'd actually watch - I know the feeling. Was forced to watch Max Magic the other day, although the guy had some original, well presented stuff it was ruined for me by terrible editing - they'd replay a lot of the tricks and spec reactions immediately in a crazy MTV/Punk'd/Pimp-My-Ride kind of way (e.g. Black and white/Mad Zooms/Whacky Camera Angles). Just looked like drawing 20 minutes material out to fill a 40 minute slot to me.

The only things worth watching that spring to mind:
Derren (sure you'd agree Jack )
The Real Hustle - which I know isn't strictly magic, but I like cross-overs. Paul Wilson is great (and Jessica-Jane is better )

Maybe I'm missing a few? Put me straight and let me know if there is anything that could drag me away from my magic for magicians DVDs.
