I can just see it "Let me look into your mind. Are you thinking of an 8 letter word with 2 vowels in it?" Very Banachek
If that's all you can see then, well, abra-ca-duh!

"I'm getting a conflict here. Why is that? Why am I getting quite a long word?"
"I don't know."
"I feel someone nearby is trying to interfere. You know who you are. It's much shorter." (Mimes pinching fingers together)
"Well, perhaps not very short."
"No, not very short, but shorter, right?"
"Uh huh." <remaining noncommittal>
Depending on the search space and how you prune it as part of your patter, you're already down to about a 1:3 chance using nothing more, it seems, than vague impressions and seeming to battle some skeptic in the crowd who is actually proving your ability. If you're up on your cold reading, you'll know how to read non-verbal feedback that tells you not only if you're warm, but also if someone really was mentally shouting out - and who it might be.
As Andy Leviss said in Visions, most people think prog anagrams are about pumping the spec. Not so. You need to bring the whole of your imagination to bear when you perform one. Maybe this is best moved to the Members Only area.
