It may be a good idea to post an introduction to let us all know who you are. Unfortunately i do not no of any tricks with nail up nose although it sounds familiar to the cigarette up nose :?

This is actually very easy to do. It's more a fakir type stunt than a piece of magic. It's all presentation. The only clue I'll give you is to look at the structure of the human skull, buy a hammer & a few nails & practise (don't blame me if you hurt yourself  )

It's not a trick you can buy unless you mean is there a book you can buy which explains how to do it.
Practicing this one could end in tears and a visit to A&E! Be careful!

I agree, please do be careful.
I can do this with a nail just about half an inch smaller than the one Derren uses, and that just came about through years of practice and pain.
You will sneeze at first and cry and just feel sick. It's a great feat, but not worth the effort it takes to master. Don't bother.
Get a life, you saddo!

EDIT: you don't need to use a hammer by the way.

Brilliant question!!!!
but to answer you yes, it is totally angle proof since the "trick" involves actually putting a nial [up] your nose!

(you'd be suprised how many people wont have a drink with you when you walk round a club with a straw half way in your face)

Humourous as these comments may be, it has to be said that nobody here recommends that this stunt be attempted.

It's not something that ANYONE can do. It's purely circumstantial whether this is a physically possible effect per-individual.

Part of Derren's use of this effect is purely performance, and the theatrics. To create the same sort of drama to friends in a schoolyard or pub is near impossible, and the chances of causing yourself serious injury are high.

In short, this forum, nor it's members should condone nor encourage the act at all. After all, on a similar level, we'd not recommend that anyone should perform a self-appendectomy—unless extreme circumstances and copious amounts of Sambucca are involved.

Ian Kendall's "B****** Hard Moves Made Easy" has an explanation of how to perform this, along with a couple of eye-watering stories explaining WHY you should NOT do this effect.

You need a strong stomach for the stories......

if your after this kind of magic, check out geek magic dvd, some good stuff on there. the nail thing isn't tho and is kinda nasty. think of the rust and s*** in your nose. just go get a body piecing where nobody wants to see one if you want to make people feel queezie.

Just to give this feat it's correct name (as far as I understand) it's called "block head", for obvious reasons...

I know someone who used to this and they also performed the stunt where you put your face in broken glass and someone stands on your head.
I wouldn't advise doing either of these things unless someone who is proficient in it can train you. The chap I knew had plenty of mishaps doing these kind of things and always had scabs on his face or bruises. Not an image worth going for!

i just wana stress that NO-ONE try putting it UP there nose. Because, suprisingly there is a very vital organ at the top which doesnt take lightly to random pokings. My advice if you want to learn it, is too take a cotton stick (thingy) and try inserting it at a 90 degree angle instead of straight up. There is an interesting line to cross here. can you justify giving a trick away in the fear of some fool hammering a nail into their brain?

yes...please ONLY attempt this with a cotton bud.......it really does feel strange, and I dont want you to have to go to hospital saying that you didnt sterilise the nail first ;)
