Help with my F/C

Postby cbyron2003 » Jan 4th, '07, 15:39

Ive been working on a coin in bottle trick that uses a F/C.
The problem I am having is replacing what goes around the F/C.(R***** B****)
I seem to end up with a very small kink in it and then it just snaps when i try to perform the trick again.
Im wondering if this is a question of quality or just wrong method.
Im buying off ebay at the moment so if anyone knows somewhere else i could buy these of better quality i would appreciate it.
Or if someone just knows any tips that might help.
thanks

When replacing the RB its very important to make sure its flat. I find it best to place it around the smaller piece's edge first and the work your way round the bigger bit, making sure its kept flat and straight. If you do get a kink just rub your finger under and around one side of the RB and it should work its way out

Hope that helped

Sam :)

The effect can be greatly encanced by the "professional" handeling presented on the DVDs/Videos "the great classics" by Thompson. It is the same method that was used by David Blaine. The idea is that the spectator holds the bottleneck and you only concentrate on slamming the coin through the bottle.

I never had any problem with the F/C. Looks like you have a technical problem.

Magic is slight of mind!

Make sure the groove it sits in is not damaged/flatened somewhere as this can nip the rb as you put it on, also maybe try 2 or 3 at the same time on top of each other depending on the depth of the groove/thinkness of the rb.

Its a good idea to clean the groove with a razor blade, and then put the rb on the large piece first feeding it into the groove with a wooden tooth pick. You can then use the tooth pick to feed it into the groove on the small piece.

GROOVY BABY !! ( sorry  )

I've heard of people using 2 b***s should one break, although I don't know how this works having never tried it.

I find that it is worse to use 2 RB, one is plenty and if it breaks you just use the classic out "Hey, nothing's perfect." I tried using two a while back, and I forget my exact reasons, but it was a little bit too stiff and the RB flashed a little bit. Maybe I just put the second one on badly, but I personally will not be using two.

Now to the main question at hand; make sure that the RB goes into the grooves in the sides of the FC. Also make sure as Wukfit mentioned, make sure that the grooves have not been flattened out from extensive use or falling. If they are, you need a new one.

Hope that helps a little,
~David

i still seem to be struggling with this.
i get a very slight bulge on my RB at one side where two halves meet. the other side is fine.
when i use the coin at all the RB either snaps or slips off starting at the bulge.
its the same with three different coins so it must be my method.
any other help would be appreciated
thanks
