My classic palm

Postby SpongeBallSlight-of-hand » Jan 12th, '07, 01:49

I've been holding this coin in my hand the whole day, to work on the classic palm, and a few days ago as well. Can someone give me some tips on it?

One tip I could give you is not to expose stuff on youtube, do you read any other posts on this site!

To show the members of this site a video of you doing a sleight, you thought it would be a good idea to post it on a site that get hit by millions of people every day a lot of whome are looking to find out how tricks are done.... think about it dude.

That doesn't help my situation. How else can I show it to people?
Is the coin in the right position? I don't want to practice it if the coin is in the wrong position.

It's difficult to tell, that hand didn't look quite right but you'd probabaly get away with it. Work on putting it into the palm quicker adn smoother.

The classic palm is tricky to learn and does take work, I'm still not 100% confidant in mine.

Keep working and you'll get there.

Sorry the video showing the coin in the palm didn't work first time. THe position looks about right, as I said just keep working on it and it'll get easier.

Sorry spongeball, I just feel quite strongly about exposure on youtube.

The position of the coin can be slightly different for different people, if it is in the right place you should know. Experiment with little variations in position and when you can get the best grip on it, you're there. Once you get a comfortable position keep it there and squeeze the muscles holding it to build them up, also I find taking it out and puting it back in again repeatedly for an hour or two helps. And a day is nothing I was practicing this for nearly a month before I was happy with it, but like everything in magic you can always improve. You can start adding coins, with enough practice you can get up to about four or five coins, releasing them one at a time for a nice production.

Well first i have to say, next time do not tag the video with the sleights name or give it any tags while posting on youtube.I prefer to use my webspace instead ;)
NOw back to the topic, the hold out wasnt that bad for a few days of practice.
My advice for putting it into the classic palm would be,contact your TT with your first fingers tip while placing the coin into the palm position. That helps alot to avoid that the thumb gets kicked out far away from his "normal" position.
Keep practicing untill you can get it quick into the position.
Good luck
