Spooky Silk / Handkerchief

Postby le_dartagnan » Jan 13th, '07, 19:39

Hi,

Ages ago I bought this hanky , which was called "Spooky Silk" or "Spooky Handkerchief".

The effect was quite simple, folding the hanky and then suddenly it starts to move in the middle... it rises. This was one of my favorites, as I combined it with ventriloquism. The right atmosphere was created by dimming the lights,... and some acting...I concentrate and tell the audience I'm about to catch a ghost... First try didn't succeed... second try an eery voice appears and the hanky moves up. And then.... I jump towards it to catch it... shouting "GOTCHA...."
I wasn't the only one jumping :D

Unfortunately, after moving to Scotland I seem to have lost it.

Does anyone know this and where I could buy it ?

Thanks...

Is this the version with the 'activation' in one corner? Think Zombie Ball...?

If so, I don't think it's around anymore. But it's pretty simple to make your own though!

I used to have a 'glorpy' years ago.

There is a new version being produced by Fabric Manipulation, who also make a fabulous no ring, ring hank that I got before christmas.

They are here: http://www.fabricmanipulation.com

Heheheheh I was trying not to mix the 'method' and the 'name' for exposure purposes ;)

But yeah, ^^ what he said.

Nice find, by the way. The closest I've seen recently is a $8 glorpy which looks like a bag of cack. I really wanted to stock them in the shop, and I even thought of getting some nice thick silks and manufacturing them.

But I like the way the one you point at above folds 1/4 size. A bit pricey, but the quality looks sweet as honey.

I like the sound of this trick. Is there a link to see this trick in action?

Try Googling 'Hyrum the haunted hanky'. It's available at places like http://www.topsecretmagic.co.uk/closeup.html for a fiver plus P&P, from http://www.zanesmagicshop.com/shop/Begi ... Tricks.htm for £6.50 and so on.
