Wrong answer though!

You can hand out the completed cube to a spec for them to look at. The Daryl and Hank Lee cubes are the same as far as I am aware.

The secret is in the handling of the cube and not in the cube itself.

That's the answer I was hoping for.

Thanks

Unless Daryl has changed the way the cube works since he released his Millenium World Tour video, you absolutely cannot hand out the "completed" cube for examination. Having said that, I have to say, "So what?" I hardly hand out any of my props for examination; it's really a non-issue. Why do so many magician's get hung up on it?

But if you really feel compelled to hand out the cube for examination, you can hand it out in its mixed state before it is magically solved. You better have good audience management skills or a sharp eye and good memory, because it would be a bad thing if a spectator started twisting the cube. Daryl actually points this out on the video.

I picked up the Millenium Tour video a few years ago and finally got around to making one of these cubes last night. I have a Rubik's Cube Die Box and am working on a routine combining the two effects.

I've seen these cubes and feel that, while you could probably make an Enchanted Sudoku Cube, much of the visual impact of the effect is lost. The solved state of a Rubik's Cube is instantly perceptible, even at a distance; the solved state of a Sudoku Cube (each side containing the numbers 1 through 9) is nowhere near as visible and would likely require close examination; spectators would want, if not need, to handle the cube to be convinced it was really solved.

I'm partial to Ed Alonzo's (?) "Oral Fixational,"

From the audience's perspective - cube shown to be complete scrambled... performer gives a few twists and turns and doesn't seem to be doing much good...cube goes in performer's mouth...performer talks and appears to manipulate cube with teeth/tongue/uvula/whateverelsehe'sgotinhismouth...performer takes cube out of his mouth, shows various sides and tosses it in the air, completely solved.

That description isn't 100% accurate as to what actually happens, but that's absolutely the perception. Because it has to fit in the performer's mouth, obviously, the cube is smaller and this effect is thus not appropriate for a large stage show. Because there's some "cheating," you wouldn't want to do it completely surrounded in a close-up setting. However, it's ideal for parlor type settings, and works in close-up if not surrounded (restaurant gig would probably be fine, if you controlled your angles), though you can't pass it out at the end of the routine. However, since it's just come out of your MOUTH, I've found that an offer to pass it out for examination, followed by holding it as if it still has saliva, etc., so you can say something like, "Oh...maybe that's not such a good idea" or just make a disgusted expression, etc. will generate a laugh and allow you to just put it away without them feeling like they really wanted to handle it.

I guess there's a good general rule in there somewhere...if you don't want the audience to examine a prop...put it in your mouth!! Not recommended for color-changing knives.

Finally bought the notes and a cube.

I've decided to go with a topit and this solves anyone wanting to examine the completed cube.

Noticed that www.magicmagic.co.uk are selling one for £23.99
It says 'fooler doolers' so I'm assuming it's the Daryl one.
Does anyone have this? What is the ease of use and is it suitable for close up and stage?

Me too would love to know more about this. It would be great for close-up, but would prefer someone to post a review before splashing out my dosh.

I'm very very tempted to just go and buy it. I'm thinking of using a pseudo-hypnotism thing with it - making the specs believe that the cube never was really "mixed up", they only imagined it was thanks to being hypnotised by me.

Think I'll place an order tomorrow - far too late tonight to start messing around creating an account. Lazy? Moi? No, just very tired.

i'd wanna solve it blindfolded, and then people tap a side and yet i can tell them what colour it is...i've got a twitchy "buy" finger at the moment for one of them...

well, probably the cheapest one if im honest...

I've always fancied being able to "solve" a rubik's ever since I started out in magic. Being psychic, I can now see that dream coming true...

Nice idea with the blinfold Mr. A. Adds to the whole drama.

I bet its more easy to just learn how to solve the cube (we all could as kids) and use a magicians blindfold
