Help me spend £150 :p

Postby Dark-Strider » Jan 15th, '07, 23:26

I have just inherited £150 which I want to spend on magic. Please give me some suggestions as what would be best to buy. I was thinking maybe a BlackWidow but that kinda blows it all on one gimmick.

Best suggestion I can think of is to bank at least £100 of it for later on when you'll see something you really need. Use the remaining £50 or less to buy a few things now but check and double check reviews etc here and on other Magic forums to make sure it will suit you and your style otherwise you'll just be wasting the money.

Strange thing is I collect £50s give it to me.

On another note (pun not intended) Buy supplies a nice brick of cards, and a couple of magic books Willson complete course if you havent got it. I suggest the hard back version though you will thank me latter.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Dark-Strider - I've just checked out your intro so my advice is this...see Markdinis post...do not do what I did and blow 150 notes on tricks n props, unless you own some good books to give you the grounding. You will be, at least I was, very disappointed and frustrated

JB Bobo's Modern Coin Magic has been recommended for getting started in coins.

I cannot actually recommend, yet, but I do have being delivered any day now Mark Wilsons Complete Course in Magic and The Royal Road to Card Magic.

I know there are reviews of all of those in the review section (tip when searching for the coin book search only for Modern Coin Magic  . Also there is sticky on getting started and this may well throw up some further advice.

Hope this helps.

lmw.

poo...I could only find the softback then went on Seiges website and what was there...the hardback version at sale price! Still better to have a copy than still be hunting for a hardback version :D

as mandrake said, bank a hundred, buy Royal Road to Card Magic book, 3 decks of cards and maybe born to perform dvd (it always gets rave reviews)..so thats under 30 quid...

so you've got twenty quid left, treat yourself to a takeaway on friday and...lend me a tenner... :?:

I would go for the Royal road book, Bobos book, Mark Wilsons complete card magic and the Art of astounishment books 1-3.
There should be enough material there to last you a good while

Good advice from the guys. Mark Wilson's book is a brilliant place to start and well worth the money.

Or a better idea, take me on a shopping trip. I'm sure I could do something with £150. :D
