Advice About Malware

Postby Delude » Jan 21st, '07, 18:14

Recently I ran into a problem myself with some sort of spyware, as it got past AVG. I didn't really know what to do but with some advice from others, I downloaded three programs which fixed it all.

So if you have any sort of spyware, adware or virus problem or if you just want to be safe i reccomend these three programs.

[CLICK THE NAME TO DOWNLOAD]

Ad Aware SE - A completely free program which will clear a lot of unwanted malicous programs.

Spybot - Another free and easy to use program which will scan your whole computer by looking in the registry files, removing the nasty files.

eTrust PestPatrol -Part of the eTrust suite, you can get a trial of this or pay for the full version. This scans the registrys and looks for unwanted files.

You could easily get away with just using the top two free programs, as if one doesn't pick something up the other certainly will.

I don't like pest patrol.....

I use adaware, spybot, spyware blaster (in conjunction with immunise in spybot it stops most things being installed to begin with) and trojan hunter.

Combine these with zone labs internet security suite and you're laughing!!

Alternativeluy, upgrade to vista as there are currently no known bots, malware, spyware, trojans or viruses for vista!!

If all that fails I use Norton go back. Takes you comp back to a point before the problem turned up.

Got me out of a fix several times, Just pick a time before the prob and it rolls back to the state the comp was at that time and date,

Would not be without it now

Norton. *Shudders*
Worst program ever. I'm on a computing forum, and Nod32 seems to be very popular, so I may get that soon.

A windows PC can take you back, without any extra programs. But it can only take you back so far.

Yep.

With IE you're practically guaranteed to get spyware/viruses.
