There are a million and 1 variations to this effect. Most do not use gimmicks.

The 'book' to learn the trick?

Which particular book?

I know a few ways to do this, all of which don't use gimmicked cards

Start with http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic2892.php and you can get it from http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 67-3114035 as well as many other fine places :D .

i prefer the trick which is using only four cards and being done on the table.
For example on this video which is done by jonathan kamm

Btw, i love kamm's passes... try to go to his website, look for his pass demo for those who has never seen

Nice routine. Unfortunately we can't tell you how a particular effect is done as it would be giving the secret away but, whilst you're here, why not pop over to the Introductions Area and tell us more about yourself and the kind of magic you like?

I personally use Derren Brown's version which is detailed on the Devil's Picturebook. Good luck anyway!

Larry jennings has a version in "the classic magic of Larry jennings" i think

I have used antony owens version on some tricks. Which i have to say does look very clean. However it does reqiure some set up and a lot of practice.

He's very proud of that, so he says. I like it too. I need to practice some of the fundamental artifices used before going for it.

Just out of interest, do you let your speks choose the cards? Spots, presumably.
