Is this your card?

Postby greenbelter » Feb 2nd, '07, 12:00

Hi I’m looking to perform a trick but wanted some advice. I’m not quite sure how the trick will work. My friend and I are going to head out on to the streets of Liverpool and do some valentines magic for a project we have and film it.

My sketchy idea at the moment for a particular trick it to force a card (Ace of hearts) and then lose the card in the deck and try and find the card. Then when I can’t find it I want to have some flashy way of producing the card. That’s where I am am coming unstuck and need some advice. I had a few thoughts but not sure what would work. I also had an idea of using a Polaroid camera but not quite show how this would/ could fit in. I like the idea of taking a Polaroid shot and as the photgraph slowly develops it could reveal their card. One idea is to have a jacket on and to have the card printed on the front of the T-shirt. Then I could take a picture of me and my new random volunteer and hopefully I could take off my jacket without them seeing my top. Then as the picture develops they would see my card.

Has anyone ever done a similar trick or does anyone have any advice for how I could make it work? I’m really keen to use my old Polaroid camera as I love the slow developing theme but I’m just not sure of the best way to do it.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks
James

I have a t-shirt that has the A or spades screened on it....only the screen is on the side (breast area) and is not visible with my suit jacket on....only when I hold it open. You could get this done as well, then force the card.....and ask a random person if they would take a picture of you and your "friend" quickly......when posing for the picture, the spec would be looking at the camera, so you could hold you jakcket open and the card would show up on the polaroid....I have also seen it done without a force, and the card is controled and palmed.....when the picture is about to be taken, the magi sticks the card to his forehead......and removes it right after the shot......just a couple of thoughts anyway!

If you have a bit of money to put into the progect, may i suggest a 'wiregram' they're about a tenner, from Magic Box, and is completely re-usable. what i do, is carry some 'copies' of my wiregram, that i shaped myself from thin wire, do the wiregram revelation of the card, then switch the wiregram for a cheep peice of wire, hand it out for them to keep... my wiregram is the 8H so, if you ask for that one, at least it hav a heart on it!
