I guess it isn't actually :o I just checked and its good. The only reason I thought it was taught wrong was because on another forum everyone was saying that it was taught wrong. Although I do mine a bit differently than it is taught, I keep my pinky at the back of the pack being rotated becasue its easier to keep the deck square.

Showoff with cards is a bit difficult to follow with the angles, I have the DVD, I think that Brian doesn't take his time to teach properly, he thinks that everybody is an advanced XCMer as him, therefore he explains too quick.

Once you've got to grips with Xtreme Begginers, Brian Tudor has a couple of moves that you should get down..
The two advanced flourish DVD's that you should get after are Madisons 'Lethal', and 'The System' by the buck twins.
If your short on money, get the system first - its well presented, and allows you to go through different angles and allows slow motion and whatnot. Daniel Madison's 'Lethal' has some moves that closely relate to the bucks moves - although he does have some interesting ( But hard! ) moves that you should take a look at!

Hope that helped,

Mr Ben

Probably gonna start a war now, unintenionally of course, but if I was being entertained by a Magician I really couldnt care and probably wouldnt notice if he can cut a pack three ways till sunday on his pinky finger whilst drinking a pint....(then again that does sound impressive) As a spectator all there worried about is the OMG factor HOW DID YOU DO THAT.....You never here them say OMG GREAT TRICK, BUT THE CARD HANDLING DID IT FOR ME........?

Lol, learn tricks not boring skills that take ages to master.........

PLEASE DONT SHOUT AT ME NOW PLEASE, THIS IS JUST AN OPINION AND IN NO WAYSTARTING A REVOLT AGAINST THOSE TALENT CARD MANIPULATOR TYPES(you know who you are)...............I just dont have the time... nuff said goodnite x

I agree to an extent, if you do to many flourishes the spec will get suspicious and assume sleight of hand.

I like to use flourishes to enhance the presentation of a card- hot shot cut, shapeshifter et al. They're also good for disguising sleights.

Used in moderation, they can be an effective tool.

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

I don't do XCM to impress spectators or to boast my dexterity, I do it because I like doing it. Just because nobody is going to notice or even see my XCM doesn't mean I shouldn't do it. In fact, I don't do any of my hobbies to impress people, even magic. I like the challenge of learning new sleights and flourishes and thats good enough for me. Its just a bonus for me when I get to perform them for a spectator.

There some nice stuff in the Tarbell books.
By no means am I a great manipulator, but I've learnt some nice stuff from there, back-palming, card spinning etc an it's explained very clearly.

I second the recommendation for Lethal by Daniel Madison. That and The System are the only two flourish DVDs I think are worth it.

The new The Trilogy looks like it could be great.
