Stag do dilemma

Postby greedoniz » Feb 6th, '07, 20:14

Hello,

I have a stag do to go to this saturday (nothing like leaving it late) and have been asked to do something in the field of magic but I am a bit stumped.
I was thinking of Gregory Wilsons 411 from Art of astonishment but I'm not sure it will quite suit.
Any ideas?

Sponge Ding Dong! But unless you've got one delivery may not be quick enough. I think in these kind of situations comedy magic works better than any other, maybe incorporating a bit of blue to lol

You MUST have the upper hand from the get go, however. Humiliation has to be the order of the day for anyone who tries to mess with your act! This is why drag actually works on a stag do.

how about the one where two silks are placed in front on the spec, pass through them and come out the other side with a bra between them. I can't remember the name of it at the moment but that could work.

I could try doing that in my pants but I don't think it'll quite have the same reaction.

In answer to your question I have access to the following

Bike cards including double backers, blanks etc.
ITR
Loops
Chop cup
Rope
flash paper
Wax
TT
D'lites
earplugs - Sankey

I think I have most of the general supplies most people have along with
lots of bits and bats - one off tricks such as Holey Moley, hot leads, 3 shell game etc.

I have looked through Art Of astonishment books and through my Dvds and am struggling to find something for this stag do.
I'm thinking obviously of something that involves the groom to be... the nearest I have is needle thru arm using his arm.

do ear plugs but say there small male parts and finish with a self made larger male part, I'm sure you have a sponge someware you can sacrifice.

pop into a joke shop and picj up one of though hopping willies and use it as a final load in a chop cup routine.

if you have access to a certain item then you can spread a regular deck face up and have them touch a card and transfer it to the top of the pile, ask them why they choose that card then slide it off the deck and table.
spread the rest of the deck face down and turn over there card to reveal a naked lady on the back, not exactly a nudist deck but you get the picture.

cut and restored rope with a mr bobbit theme were porn restored his manhood.

The other thing I was thinking was the:

Anti Gravica

A borrowed bottle (eg: Coke) is filled with water and inverted without spilling a drop. Then as if to prove the spectators wrong, matches are pushed into the mouth of the bottle and your audience will gasp as they float up INSIDE the bottle. Turn the bottle back upright and leave for examination. Perfect for bar or party situations, carry the gimmick (4 supplied) in your pocket and you're always ready to present this miracle. (4 gimmicks supplied.)

I thought this may be a laugh if I do this over his head?

I like the final load in the chop cup idea too. Thanks!

How about something like http://www.emagictricks.co.uk/product_i ... ts_id=5175 ? I know it's the same as the Bra one but might be more relevant to a blokes' do.

If your stag do is the same as most others, the groom will end up stark naked chained to a lamp post somewhere so could you do something with card forces whereby the groom loses each time and has to remove an item of clothing? A bit like Strip Poker but with only him in the frame and losing every time? Could be good in the local pub!

And as we're on the downward slope heading for bad taste, how about something using the stuff rope ( http://www.emagictricks.co.uk/product_i ... ts_id=2539 ) I'm sure you can make suitably ribald references with that sort of thing!

i went on a stag do a while back and took a pack of cigarettes all loaded with a bit of flash paper in the end, or a couple of centimeters down. that provided some hilarity! i also irritated the stag by vanishing his room key, then of course when i returned it is wasn't his one!

anyone have a 6 foot appearing....?[i'll just stop right there]

Sadly, time's against greedoniz, if he doesn't own something like this, but your comment reminds me of a bit of advice Alan Alan gave me many years ago. I bought the 20th Century Knickers/Panties trick and he told me that it's funny with a woman, but funnier with a man.

I did it the trick on stage in front of a couple of hundered 16-20 year olds and he was right! I was in that age bracket too, in case anyone's wondering.

You could do the Poker deal effect, where the other person always has the losing hand. There are many different possible phases. Personally, i feel that three is the right number, but I think Aldo Colombini has a five stage one.

Are you aiming for rude or laddish? Or both?

Have you got any pin-up playing cards?

How about a combination of the two - call it radish - but try not to allow the tricks to repeat themselves…...

I know what you mean about doing the bra one on a bloke, far funnier and the expression on their faces is sheer poetry as for just one fleeting moment they think might just have been wearing the darned thing  !
