Any magician who uses their precious TV time to force a card then produce a bloody duplicate from somewhere else. Yes David, that includes on the other side of a window.

Self levitations.

Ellusionist.

That's about it I think. I'm quite tolerant really.

The artist who does not rise, descends.

dang. beat me to it. that's my number 1.

2. two or more card routines in a row
3. forums filled with freaks who don't perform
4. paying for a trick/book/dvd that I didn't like and can't even bring myself to sell it to someone else for fear of embarrassment.

I'll stop here.

I'll be honest. I'm addicted to this forum and I hate myself for it sometimes.

Three Things I Thought Of:

1 : I hate the unneccesary division between XCM and Magic (and other divisions)

2 : Stooges, are they really necessary? Just my opinion. I don't mean or want to get in anyone's way.

3 : I hate the stink of rotting flesh.

1. anything blue
2. the YouTube thread
3. poor English from people who should know better
4. the perceived division between mentalism and magic
5. getting outbid in the last 4 seconds
6. enormous sigs
7. sponge balls
8. other people's code
9. poorly presented tricks
10. pink fluff*

That just about covers it.

* :lol:

Ok, you can do cool stuff, but if you spend 10 minutes to prepare a 2 minutes trick

If I did a two minute trick that took ten minutes to set up but made someone wet themselves, then I'd go home ticking the "job well done" box.

Specs who say Let me show you a trick

Think of it this way - you're saying to them "let me show you a trick" so once in a while you're bound to get the same back. Don't blow their enthusiasm as you may just put off a budding magician of the future - you never know.

No matter how annoying it may be, I always spare a couple of minutes and perhaps give them a tip afterwards. Keeps them happy and they will usually go around saying good things about you.

On the other hand, suppose that they're better than you and you then pick something up!

I hate the stink of rotting flesh.

Where the f*** do you hang out

Props that are obviously gimmicked in some way. If the gimmick is freely on show and it looks like a gimmick, the spec knows it does something but they don't know what. These are often in form of a small plastic box or something. The plot is usually goes, something is put into a plastic box then the box does something to it! Even if the spec can inspect it, they still know the thinggy did something and there is no magic in anyway at all. Just a bloke who bought a thing.

other hates of mine:

the word "trick"
lack of your own character in magic
umpteen "pick a card" then "here it is" effects
people jumping from one type of effect to another with nothing linking them together or explanations as to why they're doing it...
magicians theorising about Derren Brown's work (just leave the man be!)
labels in general
people not thinking for themselves nor experimenting with ideas
ivory towers
smugness
people stealing the idea of this post and creating their own post which is the direct inverse of the title of this one  :D

Pretty much what most people have said:

1) Smug, condescending and generally rude magicians
2) Magicians who only perform magic to boost their ego
3) Lazy magicians (inc. secret spongers)
4) Magicians who claim to be making use of many psychological techniques but actually don't know a thing about them (where's the credibility?)
5) Those magic books which look all nice with their shiny black covers but as a result show finger marks so easily
6) C.U.P.S.!

Not a great hate or loathing but...

Mentalism tricks with playing cards.

I know that there are some good ones, but really...
