Hello everybody! Been practicing the basics for a few weeks now. Basically I am using Daryl's encyclopedia for learning. Anyway, he's got some pretty nice counts (I find the thumbcount to be the easiest to manage) and d/l. Could go on and on about the d/l but there's already a thread on that. Guess I need to practice more. Anyway, a bit of semi-OT there. My question is regarding the pinky count. I see Daryl do them with such an ease, and looking at what he's doing it certainly looks easy. So why does it feel so awkward in my hand doing it? Is it normal? I have to put in all my strength in doing it, and still I don't get around to doing it well. Any hint there? Or is this feeling perfectly normal in the beginning? Otherwise, without mastering it yet, I think the bevel count is beautiful.
I just realized... Should this be in "Support & Tips"? If so, sorry for posting in wrong category, and please mods, move the post to where it should be. Thank you!
(Vroom, vroom ......screeeeeetch!) (Sorry, Mod just moving the thread as requested but being very silly about it)

Exactly.
Yeah, I know. I'm on the case since a few weeks. I just wondered when I started the thread if it was normal to feel so strange about it because maybe I did something wrong. It looks so easy, but then again, many things look easy when a true pro does them.
Going back to my dark dungeons to practice, practice, practice...
You need to gain precision and strength in the pinky. A tip can be to riffle the whole deck with the pinky, as the riffling with the thumb in the riffle force but with th pinky, once you do it many times, you will start to have control over the pinky and cards.
Thanks dako and saxmad! Those are really helpful notes. I could never imagine there were so many things to consider doing the pinky count. I'll definitely apply the new knowledge.
