Magic injuries

Postby greedoniz » Feb 15th, '07, 12:52

At a gig last night whilst finishing off a routine at a table with In A Flash I sustained a rather nasty flash paper burn to my little finger.

Altogether....ahhhhhhh

I should have put the deck on the table rather than holding it in my hand, the flash paper opened out a bit and then slid on top of my finger as I lit it.

It constitutes my first magic injury.

I was wondering what other injuries people has sustained whilst performing or practicing?

I managed to drive a 2 of Clubs into my little finger once when doing a bullet deal. Not sure how it cut my finger though!

I also got hit by a car once while trying to do my famous 'Trying to stop a car with my spine' effect.....

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...

Not technically practicing but I cut myself with a knife while making a gimmick. Also while practicing cigarette tricks I tried to throw a cigarette into my mouth and hit myself in the eye - not really an injury though.

Ages ago I bought one of those electrically operated wands which fire pellets of flash paper and flash wool - very spectacular stuff. I bought the double firing version so that if one end didn't work I could turn it around and have a second chance. The first time I used it in an amateur dramatic production (don't ask!) I pressed the wrong button and fired the thing up my sleeve resulting in a singed arm, minor burns and a badly scorched shirt sleeve. I've never used the thing since!

Not exactly an injury on me but my cousin and his mate came round to help me move and one of them said can you throw a card. So instead of doing work we were throwing cards about the house and i threw one and it hit the door and bounced back and hit my cousins mate in the eye. Luckily he was ok but here is a very good reason you shouldnt throw cards around.

I twisted my ankle on a deck of cards once

Came home from a night out, wearing silly heels. One of my decks must have fallen onto the floor which I trod on and turned my ankle.

Not really caused by magic, but the best I can do.
