The Illusionist

(Edward Norton)

Great movie! Did anyone else enjoy it as much as I did? It has been by far the best movie I've seen in a long time. I wonder if people that are not interested in magic will like it as much.

I'm set to see the Prestige next... but The Illusionist is a tough act to follow!

The prestige is absolute quality!!! Christian Bale is amazing, and Hugh Jackman takes to the part well...

Its a bitter twisted tale of revenge.. love it!!

Seen trailers of the illusionist.. will watch it as soon as it is release over here. Im a big fan of Edward Norton..

I have seen The Illusionist and The Prestige too. These are great films. But I think that The Illusionist was better. In other way The Prestige has great finish.

So both are good films. Just see them.

I havent seen either yet :( And i get asked if i have by people a bit.
I own the illusionist, but havent watched it. And will be buying the Prestige a couple weeks after its out, i always wait to see if there is a DC or Unrated Version, or Special edition.

(i did let my mother borrow the illusionist, and she really liked it.)

When i went to see Hot Fuzz last week, there was also a trailer for a new magic film called 'The Magicians' or something. It looks British, funny, and packed with magic! Dont know when its coming out but it may be worth keeping an eye out for.

I wish I'd seen both. My dad got a chance to watch The Prestige, but he said he didn't like it. Than again, the last movie he ever stayed awake long enough to see the ending was the first Harry Potter  . I think I'm going to ask for one of the two for my birthday (coming up in twenty days :!: ), and so far I've heard that The Illusionist is better. What are others' opinions?

PS- I absolutely love how, even in a nonmagical talk forum, magicians can't help but mention magic :D .

Merely the fact that the description of this forum says we may talk about any nomagical thing we wish. I am not implying thatanything related to magic should not be allowed on here, merely that it is kinda ironic. Don't get me wrong; I LOVE irony.

CANT WAIT too see this, The Prestige was GREAT but dated (in a good way), be cool to see a modern adaptation of good v evil in a magic sense.

I'm glad someone brought up 'The Illusionist'. I have a question about this, but first, my review:

The Illusionist ~ I thought it was a wonderful movie. Somewhat simpler that 'The Prestige', but you really can't compare the two movies. Other than their time frame and that they're about magicians, they're totally different movies. The Illusionist, a love story, is wonderful to watch with great performances.

The Prestige ~ As stated, is about magicians, however shows the darker side of rivalry and jealousy. On the lighter side, it also shows the dedication it takes to be a true illusionist. A great film!

Now for my question on The Illusionist. Are all or most of the tricks in this movie possible, to the detail and quality that Eisenheim's tricks appeared to be? Or are they only really possible with trick photography and computer imaging?

Really looking forward to The Illusionist. I heard so many good reviews of it when it came out last year in the States, but had forgotten all about it until I saw a trailer for it earlier.

Some decent clips doing the rounds. Took a note of a link at lunchtime while bored at work on FLURL. That's for the main trailer, but do a search and there are some other clips on there too.

I can't wait! Edward Norton's always a class act and I enjoyed Paul Gaimatti in Sideways. Don't know much about Jessica Biel though.

No spoilers guys (I know you wouldn't!)... I've waited this long for it without knowing how it ends
