Hey, I'm going to a party in a weeks time and I know im gonna end up doin some magic. So, would you know any wierd effects to preform? Nothing scary but just visually, completely odd to do at a party. I've been already thinking of a fish production (thanks to an earlier thread).

Thanks

pk effects are still cool though, no mutilation there.. otherwise learn a couple of neat coin vanishes like the messiah vanish. Or how about coin bite? learn a solid TT routine. scotch and soda ( dont have it but its on my cups list ), one great card routine.. dream of aces.. self tying shoelaces, or how about a sucker effect like torn and restored napkin.

linking paperclips, rubber band effects like crazy mans handcuffs..??

At parties I'd go for something visual and quick and something you can do with objects already there.

Check out the Yigal Mesika's Loops. The possibilities are endless with that one.

I recommend coin/money tricks as well.

I would practice an effect for more than a weeks time before performing it.

But many mentalism effects are "weird".

Bring a trusty old TT......tons of things that can be done at parties with it....vanish ciggy's, lit matches, cocktail napkins, fistful of salt (pretending to swallow the fist full), vanishing olive, vanishing beer cap, silk vanishes, paper money vanishes, fill your hand with an ounce of beverage and make it vanish, misers dream can be done with a TT, as well as cut and restored shoe laces, signed coin in chip bag........the uses for this "packs small but plays big" prop are only limited at parties by your imagination.

Coin in bottle type of effects are also good....usually plenty of empty bottles lying around....or how about healed and sealed soda? Can be done with beer as well, and with some advance planning and a quick trip t the washroom, you could easily stage that one!

How about pulling the lightbulb out and performing the Illuminating Bulb in Mouth or any IT stuff such as the haunted deck or levitation stuff.

There's a restored leaf to tree effect in Paul Harris's Art of Astonishment 3.

Ah, thanks everybody. I preformed the goldfish production and some monster bertha stuff. I really love the lighbulb idea Hade but can you do it without your hand in the way unlike in the preview video?
