Modelling balloons.

Postby The great rubbish one » Mar 4th, '07, 23:49

I have a few tricks that I want to use modelling ballons for.

Looking on here I found that the ones most used and recommended and the 260 moddeling balloons.

So away I go and buy a pack of 200 from a guy on ebay.

Waahhhey!!!!

Now my problem is I want to be able to blow them up using my mouth, being a big strong man I thought no problem. The only way I can blow these darn thing up is if I lay on the floor and get someone to jump on my stomache to puch the air into the balloon. Not a very good idea to me.

I don't want to use a wimps little balloon pump, I want to be a man....

Have any of you got any tips on how to blow these things up?

Is there a knack or a little secret tip..

If you are about Cardiff and see a guy with a really red face walking about that is me breaking all my viens trying to figure this out...

Thanks very much in advance everyone...

Make sure that you stretch them very well before trying to blow them up

Blow them up a couple of times with a pump, then let them deflate.
They'll be much easier to inflate by mouth then.

Push air in from your cheeks to get it started, not your lungs.

Stretching the balloon out first won't make a jot of difference. Inflating it with a pump first will make it a lot easier to re-inflate by mouth, especially while you're 'learning'. It's one of those things that you'll suddenly find 'your way' for. Best advice I can give is to 'spit' the first bit of air into it, once you get that first bubble it's much easier. Don't stretch it out while you're blowing, it's hard enough to inflate a long thin tube, why make it longer and thinner? :-)

It's definitely a knack thing - if a skinny four foot something girly can do it with a partially collapsed lung, I'm sure you'll manage!

I have a large pump that can inflate the balloon in 2 pumps, however, I also have a tiny little pump that takes about 30 squirts of air that I got from a pound shop and use that instead. Why? well, I mainly work in adult situations and you wouldn't believe the amount of mileage I get just from that.

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

Stretch the balloon out a bit first, as mentioned above blow a short sharp blast with your cheeks to get it started, then use your diaphram to inflate the rest..........works for me. Remember to only use your cheeks to start it off or you'll be lookin like a hamster in no time!!

Don't be afraid of the pump - many, many pros use a pump and no-one cares.

Pull the balloon through your fingers, this will warm it. I find it much easier to get the first 'bit' in this way.

Also, pre-prepare you balloons by getting the first bit of air in (the initial 'ball') and then deflate.

Bob's yer uncle!
