Bill Switch

Postby AcrylicAce » Mar 15th, '07, 02:34

Hey,
Just wondering if anyone has any good methods for a bill switch or somewhere I could learn one. I do know one but it is basically just switching out one bill for another in my pocket while I am looking for a sharpie...

I would rather have one where the bill doesn't have to go out of sight for so long... I think the one where I switch out in my pocket will work ok for an audiance of one or two but if there are multiple people it seems that at least one person would see me put the bill into my pocket.

Thanks,
AcrylicAce

Look through Jay Sankey's dvds, he has a ton of uses for them. Ellusionist has an overpriced (IMO) dvd on one bill change. It's flashy and quick, but somewhat impractical.

Jay Sankey DVD:

I'd digress some more, but what type of bill switch are you looking for, exactly?

I just remembered another simple bill switch, the old "can I borrow a dollar?" then put it in your pocket and say "Thanks" turn to walk away and then say "Just kidding" switcheroo. always good for a cheezy laugh.

There's the Lyons switch in Annemann's "Practical Mental Magic" (Dover).

To get a good solid method, source Mike Kozlowski's bill switch (Hundred Dollar switch?).

It's the switch used by just about every magician you'll find doing simple switches. (Sankey, Sanders, etc.)

Jay Sankey teaches the bill switch in a lot of his material. Danny Garcia does a nice on in his project ( voulme 3 I think ).

Also check out Doug Mckenzies juan hundred dollar bill switch.. thats nice.. and the hundy 500 is also very visual but does require you constructing a gimmick.

The $100 bill switch is great but an whole effect in itself. Arent you looking for a quick utility move to set up a gimmick that the audiance won't notice or suspect? If not... my bad.

Hi,

I used to do a bill switch which was perfectly acceptable but not really smooth - this changed when I bought Kevin King's Money Morph which in my opinion is the switch that flows the best.

You are absolutely right, Django... I am just looking for a switch so that I can use a gimmicked bill (though I do have the Juan Hundred Dollar bill switch... that would actually work although it seems like a bit overkill to get it done...)

Anyways, thanks for all the suggestions, these are incredibly helpful... I will look into which one I think would work best for me.

Thanks!

Ok... looking into these a little bit more I am having some trouble finding what i am looking for.

Could someone point me in the right direction.... if there is a right direction for what i am looking for that is... I would like a bill switch that doesn't involve folding the bill up into tiny pieces. It needs to be switched without knowing anything is going on.

Sorry if someone already posted one of this nature... my eyes are just hurting reading all of the product information pages, I haven't seen what I am looking for yet.

Thanks again,
AcrylicAce

If you're not folding it then palming is out of the question as is a TT. The trick is to make them think they've never taken their eyes off the bill. Think of it the same as when you do a top change with cards. When you go for the sharpie make sure the bill to be switched is placed not so you can do it fast but more important that you can do it in one smooth casual motion (back pocket, I find, works best for me) and MOST important that you are holding the new bill EXACTLY the same as you were holding the original one. Practice it enough so that you don't need to think about it (and I'd say not too much infront of a mirror or your eyes will give you away) and the spectator will swear they never took their eyes off it. And a little misdirecting with the other hand as if to say "wait one second" when you go for the sharpie never hurts.

...but hey, if you find a better way, please share.

Sorry to nick the subject a bit,
But is it possible to do a bill swith on stage? But instead of changing it for another bill, it changes into a piece of paper with writting on it?

Easy, do the $100 bill switch with a TT.
