The Repetition Post...The Repetition Post...

Postby IAIN » Mar 20th, '07, 19:21

Repetition, Repetition, Repetition...

yes, repetition can be funny in comedy terms; but what are you:

sick of saying on here, or
seeing on here...

BUT! let's not mention names, or dance round flames eh...only punch above the belt please ladies and gents...leave your personal baggage at the door...

mine are:
have you got a link to that?
yes, you can use cards in mentalism...
no i wont tell you how so-n-so is done...

go for it... :shock:

I'm fed up to the hind teeth of ouroboros posts. Posts which are perpetuated by a thorn in someone's side. In programming terms, they are a nuisance too, as an infinite loop or routine causes processor overload and a non-functioning application.

I'd love to insert an 'exit;' or 'break;' command in them sometimes, or better still, a

onOuroboros($this_post)
{
$_message='Can we talk magic now?'
die($_message);
}

;)

The anti-intellectualism on this forum is getting pretty repetitive. A discussion is supposed to be an exchange of views, with the intent of exploring a particular subject.

However, whenever a there is disagreement one of the posters takes it as a personal attack. In addition to this, whenever there is an attempt to look more closely into an particular issue there are mass cries of "can't we drop the subject."

This is largely due to the paranoid belief that members must have some kind of 'agenda' if they disagree with someone or don't like something. On top of this is the childish reponse that anyone who disagrees with you isn't your 'friend'.

I'm sick of seeing Erdnase changes where the top card is pushed about 3 inches forward off the deck, and then pulled back with no cover at all destroying the illusion completely, and then having to rant about it!!!

I hate it when somebody types out a huge, thought provoking post, only to have them quoted in a later post. The whole dang thing! Theres no need for it, and it gets my heckles up every time i see it! It doesnt bother me as much when they type something really meaningful in return, but when they do it just to say 'I totally agree' or 'Ditto', thats when i feel annoyed.

Vent and mini-rant over!

New people trying to impress the regulars by getting all self righteous whenever someone slightly newer puts their little toe over the 'exposure' line or asks for the whereabouts of a product, which is then interpreted as secret hunting.

Any request for advice on or video of any type of pass. It's been done.

ACR, invisible palm, or Sinful videos. See above.

In response to AJ..

Thats EXACTLY what Im talking about.. quoting the person before you.. why .. why .. why??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

No need.

Im also sick of people.

Im sick of getting half way through a post and having a call come through and actually having to work.. it disturbs my magic aura!!

Im sick of having to wait hours sometimes for a thread to develop as people have lives and actually have to live them out while I spend my work days practicing magic and reading Bobo, playing pool and doing anything other than work

Im sick of people not posting introductions..

Im sick of the pink and fluffy thread.. theres nothing ever to be pink and fluffy about and when there is, the green and slimey is always lurking round the corner.

Im sick of (.. damn it .. a call came through )

I'm sick of bad grammar and spelling, also text speak. I'm sorry, it isn't that I don't welcome the younger contingent, but sometimes it seems like less time on the internet and more time at school would be a good thing. We have some foreign folk on here and I'm more than happy to be understanding in this instance, or just a few bits here and there - after all, we can't all be perfectly spoken :P - but "OMG! LOL cos I no how he didit bt i duno wat gimik u need 4 dat nd i dont wana hav 2 do a pass" just makes my blood boil. It just makes this place feel like a kiddy's playground rather than a constructive magic forum.

Similarly, I'm fed up of titles that do not hint in any way of their contents. Something slightly curious is fine - goodness knows I can be a tease with titles myself - but when it becomes "HI SORRY PROBABLY STOOPID QUESTION..." I swear and hit the back button. This is probably because I get about 20 emails a day that I am obliged to check by my university should they consider important information, but most often contain information about clubs I have no interest in or someone trying to flog a text book, and instead of "medics football team" or "textbooks for sale" in the subject line, they put "wow, look at this!" etc. It p*sses me off then, so I sure as sugar don't want to have to confront it on TM which is supposed to be fun and relaxing. :evil:

But, things swing both ways - people probably get sick of my bigging up Sankey all the time and telling everyone to stop dithering and buy a Real Man's Wallet. :oops:

ut Sankey is legend.I hated him when I first saw him, but he quickly grew on me.

Oh and Ihatethe space bar on my keyboard. It never works properly. Im forever editing my posts to insert spaces.

And people at work keep swapping the buttons round on my keyboard at work. I dont need to look to type but when I do.. damn spelling errors!!

i really hate seeing the "have you got a link to the trick?" thing...

the fact you're sitting there infront of a p.c., go and google it, or maybe, just maybe, enter the title of the effect itself eh...its sooooooo MTV generation...eurgh! me not able to search ug!

i hate the repetition of reviews and questions too...google it, enter in: talkmagic bang on - for example...doesnt take a PhD does it...

yeah, long quotes too, if you need to quote, just delete everything except the part you really need to refer to PLEASE!

and more than anything, is the whole reverse engineering of Derren Brown's stuff...leave the poor sod alone, and if you're asking how it's done, then go and LEARN some basics first, and realise you're not going to perform it and get the same reactions as him...go and come up with your own thing please...before i hunt you down and skin you alive...

ahhhh...that felt good...
