I've heard quite a bit lately about a young close up magician by the name of Alex Ward. Just had a quick peek at his website, which looks pretty impressive, and saw him on Richard and Judy last week.

He's only 19 and yet has already performed at the Cannes film festival, for Bill Wyman's birthday and Jade Jaggers 2006 launch party. Big things ahead I think!

Yes, I saw him on R&J too. I'm not someone who appreciates the artfully floppy hairstyles, low slung jeans and expensively distressed t-shirts of the yoofer today (mutter, grumble, put 'em in the army, etc.), but he did well for a live spot with Madeley hurrying him along and Judy being confused and shaky.

I saw James Freedman on the other week who was much better in my opinion, but for a 19 year old to do what he did, not once but twice, in front of cameras and R&J, he's gotta be either brave or very, very stupid.

He really needs to change his hair though...

Was that the guy talking about the illusionist, who performed hopping coins?

Yeah he was good.

Which part of Alex Wards routine are you referring to him being brave or stupid?

I have hair like him only brown...does that mean you all hate me? :(

Actually his hair did annoy me (totally contradicting myself)

And yeah he was really good. I wokred out his tricks which i though was very well thought out...apart from the one with the one marked card...that baffed me...

The use of the 'B**KS**P' sleight (without wanting to risk even sleight(pun intended) exposure), which I thought was either brave or stupid, considering the blatancy of the move and the fact that he was being what some would define as risky on live TV, especially sitting next to Madely.

Yeah I thought the same, especially when he used it twice in the space of 2 minutes, to force the card on to Judy for the 'mind read' then onto Richard to reveal his bruise.

Maybe I'm having a totally different perception on this but i don't think he forced a card on Judy. He crimped the cards...i don't know if anyone noticed that...

Yes, Carlos is correct.
I didn't notice any crimping, but I was eating tea at the time so probably wasn't paying too much attention.

Watch it back with this theory in mind:

Before he gets Judy to pick a card he crimps the cards one way, then flicks through the cards and Judy says stop. Judy takes the card and as she is looking at it he crimps all the cards the other way. She then puts it back in and he spreads them out. He can now see the card she chose. And the crimp is blatantly shown on camera when he spreads them out. Ta Da!

I'd also like to add that i noticed all that by myself and any applause or fan mail would be extremely appreciated!

sorry, but the backslip is definitely used methinks. Whichever way, it is still quite a brave thing to use on live TV.
