Directional Card Backs

Postby stepSeven » Mar 24th, '07, 12:30

Can anyone recommend a brand of cards (available in the UK) where the design on the backs is different depending which way you look at them?

I'd like to find one with a really subtle difference so it's not obvious to a spec if the card is 'updside down' or not.

This is known as a "one way" back. This could be achieved by ma****g your current preffered deck yourself!

This would be Probably be Cheaper and easier, the same deck can then be used for any other following effects :D

Bee Decks are sometimes one-way. And they are also the most deceptive. Not all Bee decks are though, it depends on how they were cut.

Most cards have some form of one way design on them. I'll PM you with details.

Hi,

Depending upon how well hidden you want the one way design to be.... try Bicycle League backs. Not glaringly obvious but still very simple for you to pick up on. Cut and paste the following link and look at the 10th item down. http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/acatalog/P ... Cards.html

Nice one - the leagues are exactly the kind of thing I was after.

I am going to play around with ma**ing too - never done it so I've got a lot to learn.

I wondered if printing defects on bike 2nds could be exploited? What are 2nds like - in terms of printing? I.e. what makes them 2nds?

I just remembered... some decks of REGULAR bikes are one-way too. I can't remember when I first heard about this—But I am sure it was on Daryl's card DVDs, but sometimes, the 'border' isn't central.

Anyhow, good luck!

Marking for this type of thing is an absolute breeze with a red Sharpie, (or blue) btw.

Wow, I can't believe how bad (or good depending on your viewpoint :) ) the offset is on some decks. It varies from deck to deck but this is definetly usuable - cheers.

Annoyed I didn't spot this earlier as I was aware of this issue on court card faces - doh - probably goes to show this is invisble to the casual observer.

I'll still need the leagues for the effects where I only get the card back in my peripheral vision as well (ok it's just CUPS).
